Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

After each round of layoffs the situation gets worse

Am I wrong, do cuts bring any improvements to this company? I've survived several rounds of layoffs and now it is clear to me that surviving those cuts was no luck at all. The situation from layoff to layoff is getting worse. This company has definitely lost its compass. High time to move on!

That makes no sense that you can’t file for unemployment after your severance is up. If you get a month of severance, you can’t then file for unemployment?

Part of the severance package includes verbiage that says you cannot/will not file for unemployment once the severance is up. The severance is too generous for most to simply walk away from (2 weeks of full pay for every year you have been with the company) So if you’ve been with Humana for any period of time, most can find other employment during the severance period. Especially with the job market begging for people to work and offering historical incentives. On a positive note, as much as it sucks, if it is going to happen, there really has never been a better time to get layed off.

Do not opt out. I don’t know of any nurse jobs that work past 7pm EST, and very few that make you work weekends. Humana is going to be hurting for nurses so stay calm and don’t opt out unless you get a rocking offer elsewhere.

I’m want my severance and I also want the opportunity to come back if I choose to before year is up. If you take the opt out you cannot come back for at least a year. I don’t think anyone’s going out rely on unemployment at this point. $200 a week is not gonna do much. We missed the Covid extra money so again thank you Humana

What? Please don’t listen to the one’s saying don’t take it if that’s what you’re considering. Anyone whose end game is relying on unemployment is a fool and unmotivated. You can chose to create your own destiny or let life happen to you. Your choice.

Can you please opt out then so someone who wants to stay has a better chance?! Are you serious? While Humana may not be what it once was, I don't know anyone who doesn't HAVE to work, enjoying that work is a luxury these days. Asking people to opt out is ridiculous.

I would find out how unemployment is calculated. If you are in a state like AZ, the maximum amount you will get regardless of how much you make is around 320. I wish I lived in CA. I’m opting out and leaving the spot for someone who wants to stay.

Don’t opt out. That’s voluntary and you can’t collect unemployment. No one knows where they will be or the health of the economy at the time their severance ends. You may need unemployment. Don’t make a decision today that can negatively impact you weeks or months from now. Humana is very strategic in their layoffs, even down to the time of year they plan these. Severance isn’t Humana being nice. They want you to find a job during that time so you don’t get collect unemployment .

But if you don't get laid off & then dont like the working hours or whatever about the new role. You would have to resign and wont get severance.
