Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Ex level 23 not eligible for rehire

I am not one to usually post on these sites but after the last rejection email from Xom hr I think I'm done . I was one of those who absolutely enjoyed what I did at Xom and was ranked in the upper ranks. But in Feb of 2021was told to pack my bags and go .I have applied for 10 positions and almost within 24hrs of applying the rejection email was in my inbox . I now work for myself and providing for my family I realize Xom had its faults but it was still a rewarding and challenging place to work . I'm just venting because HR needs to pull their head out of their A$$ and hire some of the experienced people they let go.For me I will not be back .Good luck to all who are left and do your best despite the situation.

I was told, you had to be separated from the company for twelve months before being considered for rehire; six months if you retired. However, that may only pertain to returning as a contractor rather than a W-2 employee.

It’s not totally unheard of to be hired back by EM. I knew an engineer (EMDC Drilling) who quit EM to work for Halliburton. After several years he decided he did not like it and EM hired him back. Since coming back he has done every well at EM. I knew a second engineer that did the same thing and was hired back by EM.

But, i am not sure why a person would want to come back after being laid off.

Good luck to you OP

Kind of interesting they are rejecting laid off people. There is language in the SPOSA saying severance has to be paid back if you are within the window of what you where given (example: given 30 weeks, you are 28 weeks from last day on payroll, you pay them back 2 weeks). Sounds like another course reversal made similar to what happened with the supplement savings plan accounts.

Just trying to help those are leaving (have left). There can be many reasons EM wants to get ride of you. Some apply to current situation logically. A few here - 1. You cost more (ironically, mo--nic EM lose more having removed you); 2. You're no longer needed for the work assigned to you (business direction change); 3. You have an a*hle boss; 4. You are unlucky to be in a disfavored unit ... Keep your chin up. Some company out there is dying to find an employee like you.

This is typical of exxon. Don't be surprised by it. I know of several people that left the company on their own and tried to come back. They were told they could not and that exxon would not consider them. If you are PIPed or PIL you sign something that states you will not seek employment with exxon in the future. Once you are in the bottom you cannot transfer or move. I like the work that I do now but the unfairness, toxicity and mis management is too much. I would find another place to work that would be a better environment. I have seen greener pastures and better places to work. Exxon is just a place to work and that is all.

@OP Your leaving (many others) was like a verdict without fair trial (arbitrary at best). Rehiring you means EM was at fault. Think EM will ever do that? Move on buddy. Looking back years later, you will realize that your separation from EM was a blessing in disguise (no pun intended). Best luck to you and your family at this difficult time! The sun will shine upon you sooner than you expect. What you left behind may never see a brighter day.

Could be an automatic rejection email from HR. Regardless if you are qualified, the system might push you out of consideration because you got either laid off, fired, etc. Exxon isn't necessarily known for second chances. If they did. They will most likely call if they need the position filled. Might want to reach out to your manager and see if they could pull some strings. However if they got rid of you before, what is stopping them for doing it again?

Might be better this way. Sorry they did you dirty

I understand how concerned you are but after they did you dirty like that, you really need to cut the cord and find something else, including getting away from this site
