Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

job postings

I’ve seen a Sr. Geophysicist position advertised for months. Are these advertised positions something Oxy actually plans to fill? I’ve stopped applying at some companies when I see posts out there forever. Tells me they’re not serious about hiring, or their expectations are ridiculous, such as “in search of 20 yr old with 30 years experience, walks on water, fully woke, etc

While people say. "Any port in the storm," you don't want to work at Oxy as a geophysicist or for that matter anything else. It truly is an inept sh it storm.

VH wouldn't know the difference between a geophysicist or geologist.

Oxy just wanted to say they had synergies in the deal and they didn’t care who took the VSP. They were fair about it and did not refuse the VSP to anyone qualified. Some VSP dates were delayed to allow people to finish up projects or to transition to others. The problem with VSP programs is that you lose critical functions that eventually need to be replaced.

Didn’t Oxy give VSPs to a bunch of experienced geophysicists the last couple of years?? Did all the engineers in charge finally realize the geophysicists actually did something useful?

I think it has been filled but HR is probably too busy to take it down. Yes, they are not serious about hiring, safety, compensation, guidelines, direction…
