Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Covid vaccine

How long do you think it will be before State Farm requires everyone to get the covid vaccine like all the other companies have come out requiring it?

This will allow a much more rapid RTO. Likely in next 30 days.

Sadly it is taking the president to mandate a vaccine. It is too bad we are only going to do that due to fines vs making our own decision and doing what is right.

None of the Claims executive retirements we’re “voluntary.” Executives can be dismissed on a whim…as these learned.

The unvaccinated group health premium will go up substantially. Think tobacco surcharge on steroids.

Since we are not willing to mandate vax inhope our insurance in the fall shows a difference in premium between vaxxed and unvaxxed. I am reading unvaxxed should go up 8 times with baxxed staying the same

With FDA approval litigation risk for employers is non-existent for mandating vaccines. Now it is about managing employee expectations and expense. With approximately 80% or more of employees vaccinated they will expect to be protected from the unvaccinated and to do that effectively would result in considerable expense to create separate work spaces and the constant follow up on unvaccinated infection potential. Yes, some number of the unvaccinated will leave (going to be hard to find employers hiring unvaccinated) but that expense is minor compared to others.

I was onboard when it was “vaxxed or masked”, as President Joe put it. But now that’s turning into it’s “vaxxed AND masked”. It’s a cold. We have never eradicated the cold or the flu. This thing is here to stay, so we should all get back to acting naturally sooner rather than never.

If you’re vaxxed and wearing one to three masks too, you’re doing too much. My 2 cents haha

Just be use someone does not want this clvaccine does not mean they are anti-American. Far from it. The vaccine seems to only have worked , for many, for about 6 months. The new variant mutate rapidly. No one seems to concerned about making sure everyone has other vaccines. Aside from that..
Yearly booster shots if not twice a year for the covid vaccine. What about the flu..
We all get that and spread it like wild fire when we are sitting on top of one another in our cubicles. People get the vaccine And still get sick and or spread covid. The mask will not save you either.
People need to be more aware and do what's right for them or thier families...period

Just cause something is “FDA” approved means zero. Many things risky and I stage have been politically pushed through. Big Pharma way. Push for fast and call it calculated risk

Not smart

I like how people think because you don't want to take this non FDA approved "vaccine" that you are anti-vax. I rememeber when the CDC was telling people to NOT wear masks. I remember that Biden and Kamala telling everyone they wouldn't take the vaccine if it was under Trump but now that they are in charge we should. I rememeber when it was 15 days to slow the spread. I remember when Biden said that if you were vaccinated you don't have to wear a mask. Now we go back to mandating masks for what? Because the "delta" variant..... get the F out here. I'm done with this bull$hit. All our government proved to us is that you can still get covid even with their vaccine so what's the point? What's next booster shot? Every six months? year? Two years? Another lockdown till enough people are vaccinated? Good luck with that.

Employers are not legally liable for employees vaccine side effects even if they mandate them, In fact you cannot even sue the dr-g manufacturers. Employees are free to choose a vaccine or not and free to accept employment or not. The EEOC has already stated they will not entertain any vaccine related cases.

Newspaper this weekend said it IS legal for employees to mandate! Hopefully we step it up and make the decision.

another article by an attorney noted if a company does mandate this then the company is legally bound to the possible consequences.

Typical! The "government" needs to tell you what you can and cannot do with your body because you don't believe people can make their own decisions on their own. Keep giving away your freedom. Not a wise thing to do.

Today’s announcement of mandatory masks is the precursor to mandatory vaccines. Will need both for the RTO later this year.

HIPPA only applies to MEDICAL insurance companies and healthcare providers. Does not apply to employers, cruise lines, universities, bars, restaurants or individuals. Literally anyone or any organization can ask for vaccine information.

Also, the EEOC ruled that employers are allowed to require vaccines-so no lawsuits there. Between the government, many major employers and over 500 universities requiring vaccines it is approaching 10’s of millions and growing of people required to have a vaccine.

My friend just died after getting the vac. Extremely Healthy before shot other than bad cough. Death very said Covid related death.

Another tested positive 2 weeks after getting shot

Not sure the push is worth risk not folks should be able to choose. Not be mandated

Vaccinated person data and info on that person should not be shared (where did personal health privacy and decisions go)??

Two things strike me with this. 1st, if/when it happens, look for a lawsuit (probably class action) to happen quickly, then look for HR to get a ton of ADA accomodation requests.

Second, look for a large number of people to retire/quit. State Farm has exactly ZERO right to tell it's employees what they must put into their bodies. The claims departments are so short staffed now that it's untenable to operate with mandatory OT. People are going out on stress leave across the country. How much more before Yi figures out a reduced staffing footprint isn't working?

To tag onto #2, training can keep up, but HR can't find enough bodies to fill all the slots they have. We have gone from hiring college graduates to anyone with a pulse. Look how well that's worked out...

I feel this is very likely, as it will increase turnover drastically, and everything executives do is rooted in getting rid of experienced/expensive claim handlers.

can they legally mandate it , yes
will they , that remains to be seen, they assume legal responsibility if they force vaccines and even if the chances are close to zero they dont like being exposed to lawsuits.

likely they are waiting for a Federal mandate so they can wash their hands and point to them for fault.

Rumor within HR is they have decided to mandate a vaccine. Still discussion around timing-wait and see if Fed mandate? Announce soon to give employees time to make decisions ? Wait for FDA approval? Not consensus among exec other than to mandate.
