Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Age discrimination

What kind of people are they hiring instead of the talented people they are getting rid off?

I am almost certain that a person with a lot of experience and expertise who was paid more costs less the company than a newbie who has almost no experience and is not interested in the job, although he/she will be paid a little less.

Knowledge and experience have become so little valued here, that one should not be at all surprised why the company is sinking.

There is a growing trend to toss aside US based workers to the open the reqs in Costa Rica. Some of the CR workforce are quite talented. There is a over abundance of cheap labour that HPE is far to keen to exploit. Very soon they will find you get what you pay for.

Fire senior engineers, keep junior engineers or those on H1-B visa. Outsource jobs to Asian countries….. this is the mantra for any Bay Area company these days when revenues are down and VPs are clueless.
It is all about greed and profits. High salaries in Bay Area have led to this situation and non-stop layoffs.

There is definitely age discrimination going on at HPE but they are losing too many key people that will be hard to replace with engineers in Taiwan and India. One of my Indian co-workers tells me that he has a friend who works for HPE in India as a firmware engineer. His friend said that all of the engineers are incredibly stressed out because they are struggling to fix issues and add new features.

Think about it. They hire MBA's to do jobs your average high school graduate could do.

I don’t really understand the point of this posting is. Is it wrong to hire younger people? Do you expect the company to keep older employees without replacements for when they retire? Your expectations of younger people having excellent knowledge and experience is like expecting a baby to be able to start walking and talking on its own.
