Corp Comms Disaster Continues

Since no one asks us for feedback for BR’s mid year review, I’d say great job for making Corp Comms a terrible place to work. The re-org is a failure. Our work is terrible. Everyone is miserable. This place is a disaster.

Getting out from under BR was an absolute blessing. So glad I’m not part of the epic dumpster fire that corporate communications has become with her and Bill. It’s truly sad to watch and I hope the rest of my friends and colleagues get out ASAP. Yes, the “10 city tour” … what a joke… does anyone realize that GR is now running corporate communications behind BR’s back under guise of “stakeholder engagement” And she is too focused on “consumer media” to understand who really runs this bank.… The regulators.

The whole gimmick of decentralizing core corp comms functions negates the very important fact that the LOBs can be very complicated and nuance. It takes great communicators fully embedded in the businesses and with great relationships with their clients to be able to communicate clearly and with confidence. The best communicators at WF aren’t simply order takers, they do real diligent work to know their business and are regarded highly by the clients for doing a job well done. This whole COE structure is counterproductive and will create hollow comms that could further jeopardize our reputation. It’s a setup for failure.

Corp Comms and public affairs have the lowest engagement scores. The reorg is a fail. BR in her genius lay off process let go of a lot of talented people when she should have cut poor performers. Others are jumping like rats off a sinking ship bc this place is a sh!t show. Is this something that BR and the LT will be measured on? No way. That would mean that Daley is paying attention cause he certainly is not. He is too busy calling reporters on his own and yelling at them and kissing Chuckie’s back side. So they cash their checks. Meanwhile the rest of us have to bend over backwards to get a “meets.” I am coasting. Getting the minimum done. Waiting for a package in the next round, which I am hearing is Fall. Pick me, please.

I agree with another poster here. I left Corp Comms and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Get out as fast as you can.

Now everyone misses OS! Corp comms was ruined by JR. He used it as a tool to lay off people he saw as a threat rather than do his job that is why nothing got done under JR and why our Corp comms is literally years behind other company’s and why we are always changing leaders in that group. Cut the head count by half but that money into REAL bankers and let’s start making actual money uh like a bank!

Corp Comms (and apparently Bill Daley himself) actually think Daley has credibility or relevance with politicians and media to the point they are having this clueless embarrassment to American politics go on a road tour across the country. I think he’s just seeking more frequent flyer miles. This corrupt inept and incompetent man has no business in politics or business.

Lots of varying love and non love for Corp Comms and definitions.
Here’s the proper definition of Corp Comms:
Professionals involved day to day i their communities and media / journalists who beg for appropriate, honest and educational messages to be approved, only to have lazy, token, unresponsive or incompetent senior leaders provide nothing or worthless and ineffective “approved” messages.
As BR and Fredo fiddle and WF burns, someone needs to realize they fired lots of quality people, they kept mostly worthless senior leaders, and this company is paying the price for it.

Seriously, who cares about corp comms? It could be good or bad and nobody cares because it's corp comms.

How much more do you expect BR to do? She’s in over her bead, showing she already Peter Principled at Met him (prolly a D&I token promotion there).
But hey, as long as she writes poems and repeats overused slogans like “lean in” she’ll keep cashing checks.

@cuu, ditto. Best decision I've made in my career. I stayed on that sinking ship far longer than I should have because I was afraid I'd struggle to find similar pay/perks. Turns out I actually make a lot more now with far less stress.

“WTF does Corporate Communications actually do?! All you have to do is read this board a few times a week to see clearly that we have a major communications deficiency among the troops‘

Great question…Because none of us actually know anymore.

I'm sure she will get a glowing mid year! They don't care one bit about morale, leaders here have 0 accountability for managing down as long as they manage up and kiss up. The higher up a tree a monkey climbs, the more of its azz that you see.

I thought BR was going to “transform” us. It’s our “journey” to “modernize” and make us “nimble” and “efficient” and like an “agency.”

I don't personally know anyone in corporate comms but looking at the way we dropped personal credit lines the other week and the messaging around it, I'd say that we need some help. We're just a laughing stock to be slapped around by the press and regulators. Some of it is deserved but we really could be doing better.

I left Corp Comm earlier this year. I suggest others do as well. The grass is actually greener.
