The new normal at Verizon is keeping the staff low and proving that things can be done with less head count. It comes with a price but in the long term it’s what Verizon wants. I was never for a union but now I want to get involved with one simply out of SPITE. They really don’t care about an employees health and well being. They don’t care about the stress it is causing at the retail stores. It’s time to explore a union. I don’t plan on being with Verizon in the next 6 months to a year so this is my going away present .

A union is only as powerful as the members. if members dont do swat sh-t then a union is meaningless. a union is strong ONLY when the working people that it represents is actively holding the company accountable collectively..the Union in a sense is the vehicle!, you have to drive it! ALL IT TAKES TO FORM A UNION IS TO MOVE AS A COLLECTIVE OF WORKING PEOPLE. Doing so would make your voices louder. There is always POWER IN NUMBERS. this company is out of balance, too much wealth in too few hands. join together and retake the reins and set the rules of your employment. DONT QUIT thats the easy way out. Y'all can make the company better again and more equitable for all of you.
This type of bitterness should have been dealt with when Verizon went to team commission. They should have offered severance packages to anyone in retail when the pay plan was drastically changed. I get some were effected a lot more then others but I’m sure those making the huge commission checks would have taken severance. Now Verizon is stuck with a lot of negative people that they don’t know what to do with. With stores being short on staff reps do pretty much what they want. Definitely breeding a cancerous atmosphere which will be harder to fix the longer you keep these people. Offer a VSP now while it makes sense and hire replacements that don’t know any better. Until then the union talk will not go away and it’s quite possible unions will start to form in stores.

Not a union guy myself but how ironic is it that the three NYC stores that are union don’t have any of the original reps who voted for it ?
