Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Don't quit, unionize!

Not a union employee here. I've been in a few different unions, though. I'm ready. I'm done with this $h!t. I'm pretty sure a few others in my store are, too. I want to unionize because of the actions from the top. Not because of my immediate management. I like them. Even though they are brainwashed. The stuff we've gone through would never have happened at AT&T...because of their union.

the union is only as powerful as the members. if members dont do swat sh-t then a union is meaningless. a union is strong ONLY when the working people that it represents is actively holding the company accountable collectively..the Union in a sense is the vehicle!, you have to drive it! ALL IT TAKES TO FORM A UNION IS TO MOVE AS A COLLECTIVE OF WORKING PEOPLE. Doing so would make your voices louder. There is always POWER IN NUMBERS. this company is out of balance, too much wealth in too few hands. join together and retake the reins and set the rules of your employment. DONT QUIT thats the easy way out. Y'all can make the company better again and more equitable for all of you.

Union is t going to have the power to not close stores. They might be able to get rid of the denim and team commission. Brooklyn union is irrelevant, to have a union you need more than .1% of employees so stop using it as evidence either way. It gives no indication of what a national union could do.

Once the union cancer invades, a cure is almost impossible until the company dies.

There has to be a reason why AT&T still HAS the union. And they keep renewing their co tract every 4 years.

Hey AT&T union doosh. Did you not even read the article I posted the link to?

"In a statement today, AT&T told Fierce that the company will “make every effort to place employees in other nearby AT&T stores.”

We all know what that means. It's musical chairs just like Verizon. Not everyone has a seat when the music stops.

Anyways, unlikely an "AT&T Union Employee" would be on a Verizon layoff site. What is infinatley more likely is a CWA goon is on here in a desperate attempt to get new revenue in the age of union obsolescence.

Hah. The At&t work from home is temporary. Hope you plan on moving where the center is. Or getting fired with no severance. The union is worthless. But they got a sound bite, typical union nonsense.

Union AT&T employee here. Yes, AT&T closed 300 slow-performing jobs. However, each rep was guaranteed a job either working at a nearby open store if available or work from home per the UNION agreement. What guarantee do you have if Verizon closes down your retail location? None!

Union ain’t the answer. It’s a waste of money for them to do nothing but act like they are changing the world. We just have to ride the wave as it gets bigger or you quit like most others. Remember, if your store on have 3 bodies a day you can close early. That’s more powerful then any union would ever achieve.

Brooklyn has a union and has gone through every single change you have. Absolutely no difference. It's not the answer. The job market is hot. Take advantage of it and get out. Do you really want to stick around hoping a union is going to change something? Your opportunity may pass you by.

Quit is the way to go. Most Verizon retail jobs are dead ends. Retail is dieing and Verizon is working to ki-l it off even more! Unions will do jack. Get motivated and get a better job. You will be so much happier. Verizon is a cancer, the brainwashing is amazing.

Lies. AT&T closed over 300 store in 2020. Union didn't do squat.

Not a bad idea because they would then close your store and you would get unemployment.
