People are concerned that UT takeover will make it more like Honeywell. That will be very unfortunate. UT had almost as much talent at sucking the happiness out of their employees as Honeywell. Will see.

The open question is whether the United Technologies takeover will start the downhill slide that AiResearch endured after Allied & ex-GE management got involved. Offshoring will be a lot harder, given the amount of defense work. Wishing them the best, since my boy works there.

Raytheon: Time off = your time off. No "bring your cell phone and keep it on" every single weekend. They value people and know you have a life outside work. And diversity includes age so there is no feeling of trying to get rid of older / higher pay people. Matter of fact you get the feeling the value experience. And the 9/80 schedule where every other Friday is a day off, just great. Take a vaca day that weekend and get a lot of 4-day weekends. Hon you work 9 hours a day anyway, no Friday off.

ROFL. That is so true! My son in law works for Raytheon. They treat him like he matters, not like a necessity expense. So, we both rise to the level of treatment.
