Severance letters with lump sum payout

Are they sending severance letters with the lump sum payout? I need it to file for unemployment. I looked through the displacement package and didn't see it. I will need this amount to file for u/e.

Check to see if your state allows you to collect unemployment while receiving severance. If they do, after your 60 days, you can apply. Where it asks you how much you will receive in severance, CA edd told me (I called edd) to add up then amount i would receive to the best or my knowledge. So I broke down my regular pay (no OT) as to what I would make every week. Once I got that #, I looked to see how many weeks of severance I would receive and that’s the amount I listed. For the end date,(is asks you start and end date) I listed the end of my severance week. We did the same with my PTO payout. I called HR to get the most accurate accrued PTO bal and then multiplied it by my hourly rate. As for the date you get your PTO payout(it asks for a date), I don’t remember off the top of my head but I think you get it 2 weeks after your 60 days.
Another thing you will want to ask your states Edd, is if you still need to report the severance when you certify weekly. CA edd said NOT to, as it has already been reported when you applied and that severance is not considered “wages”. Hope this helps, good luck.

It depends on the state. In most states, unemployment can be collected at the same time as severance.

You can apply for unemployment AFTER your severance runs out.

Problem is no one under 30 reads anything over 120 characters. Blame the Twitter culture.

The Benefits Book is updated annually and covers all of your benefits including medical, PTO, severance, etc. It's easily found on the HR section of Sharepoint, and it's publicly accessible via Teamworks at home without a login. Learn the policies of your employer before asking on a forum full of trolls.

Sometimes people are overwhelmed and don't read everything. Give the poster a break.

Or evidence that people don't read published policies. Whose "failure" is that? Does it also create a "toxic" work environment?

Reading this post, it almost sounds like you were asking to accept the Lottery winnings in lump sum payout versus annuity. God, this place is so TOXIC it's unreal. All these questions are the Board are TOTAL evidence of failed leadership and communication, both of which do not exist in this company. When people are going to a public site to ask work related questions, you know your HR Leadership and Corporate Communications need drastic overhaul!

A Wells escape

Oh look a fool who can’t read. Did OP say anything about another job with benefits? No in fact the opposite he is asking to collect unemployment. So yeah there’s that.

Please escape and work at chase.

Oh look, someone else who hasn't read chapter 16 of the benefits book.

Wells Fargo does lump sum payouts of remaining salary continuation plan balances if you accept benefit-included employment elsewhere and notify Wells Fargo.

Id--ts here, everywhere.

First Wells only does salary continuation no lump sum pay out. Second after 60 day notice you can collect UE.

Oh look. More people who don't have a clue.

First, you wouldn't be eligible until the 60 day notice period ends. Then it's on a state-by-state basis. Colorado and Illinois, for example, allow collecting unemployment if you are laid off regardless of whether you get a severance (even if it's not called severance but 'salary continuation plan'). Google your state and look at your state's unemployment website for FAQs covering this.

Be careful using advice here re: unemployment, the rules vary by state. In my state (not naming sorry, it’s not a hub) I could apply the day my 60-day workout period ended. So plenty of time to get the paperwork together.

You can apply for UE after your payout amount exceeds the equal time of employment elapses. When I was laid off in 7/2019 from a local bank, I received a 4 week severance. I wasn’t eligible until that 4 week period elapsed. Same thing in 2009 when BOA laid me off, …those jokers gave me 4 months.

If you get severance, you cannot collect unemployment.
