Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Can you imagine

what would Oracle look like and how would the company function if they were to halve the number of middle managers who do nothing?

I agree with someone who said that they should not be blamed for everything because they only carry out the orders of those at the top, but that does not change the fact that there are too many of them and they do more harm than good to this company.

a better approach is to shuffle middle management and technical people who stay in same projects more than 5 years to different projects. if they have real skills let them survive.

This is a good idea. This would shuffle people around. The better people would be able to get out from under corrupt management in their area. The not-so-good people would be exposed when they move to new management.

I just said this to someone who just left. The middle mgmt layer would not survive. A lot of them seem to have the same skills as HR. All they’ve really done is approve timesheets and vacation.

It wouldn’t do any good. Oracle is way to late to the cloud markets for added efficiency to help (with a few exceptions, e.g., SAAS). On the other hand, seeing management cut in half in the near-term would be good for some laffs.
