Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Hostile bid for Oracle

Heard from trusted sources that Jeff B is considering a hostile bid for Oracle , taking full ownership and kick most of the people out. Discussions are underway with legal, any update on this. I am not the source of this one.

This. Plus a hostile takeover would send O's stock into the stratosphere. O's current Market Cap is ~$250B. What would Amazon get back in return? Besides that, all Bezos is thinking about right now is his rocket ride next week, which could go very wrong.

they’re not keeping 6 managers that have one direct report!

Yeah, this is a completely ridiculous practice. I was working for a manager. He had maybe 20 reports, then suddenly, something happened. His group was given to someone else. I got an email that someone was going to speak to me, but no one ever did. Didn't know the person who sent it.

I think my manager was caught doing something. He was a scumbag.

They took his reports away and put him on the stem (org chart), i.e. useless manager with one report. It's supposed to be a sign for them to leave. But, he's still there. They're supposed to feel some kind of shame and leave, but they never do.

Duh, if you put a competent manager on the stem, they will leave. If you put a complete id--t on the stem, they have no where else to go. They will just stay there.

It's like "Silicon Valley" putting people on the roof. What a stupid and useless practice. All those stem managers just sucking up the money and doing nothing.

JB would put an end to that. I believe he would.

Amazon buying us would be the best thing to ever happen to Oracle. I’m confident in my skills but really, it would allow all levels to be compared and let’s be honest…they’re not keeping 6 managers that have one direct report!

How many years does LE have on life support before his family sells his shares?

What JB can do is following.

1) Convert all OCI regions to Amazon regions (Hardware will be reused, tools leveraged from AWS)
2) Slowly ki-l Oracle DB and MySQL Convert Oracle DB customers to Amazon DB
3) java and Netsuite applications

That's all, no Oracle flavors anywhere. The oracle campus is not more Oracle rather amazon and filled with amazon original employees. Most importantly, he will demote all OCI leaders and make them report o Amazon sr managers, ha ha ha

This would be hilarious. LE would get his cash out exit BUT lose ego. Poor sweetie would really be torn over that. He would have to start endorsing things to have Ellison on buildings.
I hope it happens.
Ozymandeus, baby.

This post belongs in a stock pump-n-dump site like Reddit and not a layoff board.

Soooo many bitter people here

I'd like to see a JB takeover. I'd like him to look at CM and his group and how they really created all that OCI code so quickly.

Oracle is just one big scam/fraud. I'd like to know if LE was scammed or if LE was just looking the other way.

  1. Highly unlikely that this would ever happen
  2. Amazon would definitely milk Oracle, not ki-l it. You think layoffs are bad now, wait until Amazon PIP culture arrives.
  3. Even if it did happen, would be a huge antitrust regulatory snafu to get it approved

Although LE obsesses over JB and Amazon, I doubt that JB even thinks about LE.

That would be interesting. Buy Oracle to destroy it. He's got Amazon off of Oracle, he could attack competitors by destroying Oracle db. It would not affect him. JB hates LE.

I'd like to see him do it.

Good business move. Why spend money and five years developing Amazon DB in an effort to be as good as Oracle has today. Don’t forget that there is also a maintenance stream from which they could drink.

What I heard is that JB got pi---d out with LE, who repeatedly blasted Amazon. He wants to make a hostile bid, ki-l Orcl and no orcl any more in the world. What irritated JB is ORCL instead competing with Amazon in AWS and Mongo DB for dabases, it is targetted amazon DB which is still in the infancy stage.

Buy ORCL just to bury it.

Shut it down.

Why would JB want Oracle?

My bet is we get acquired by MicroFocus for the support business.

For LE, SC every employee is expendable, especially the ones with high paid compensation; eventually they will be replaced by employees in low cost area;
Oracle reports to investors and Wall Street and must make sure it controls its costs

If it is a hostile bid, ownership of more than 50% is required. If that is obtained, LE might not be able to do much.

LE who owns well over 30% of the company probably won’t let this happen as long as he is alive, even though he is senile
