Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Which is the most corrupt district?

I know in my district you can hang it up trying to get promoted unless you are a straight up “yes” man. East Texas has some of the worst leadership I have ever seen. They have moved people they didn’t like so that they wouldn’t have to lose some of his most useless people as jobs have been deleted just because they were controllable. Th old boy network is firmly entrenched here.

ET has also always been about praising the cheaters that you find out later we’re juking the stats. But I think that’s all over this company. Time to find a new place to hang out since this place doesn’t pay as well as most fast food jobs.

Houston, TX. All of it. Example, this lady we'll call "B" is a GM, and she has been moved to like 7 different stores in 5 years, has harassed over a dozen quality employees to the point of transferring out or quitting, and everywhere she goes she is allowed to build her clique, destroy morale and bounce. She is rude, spiteful, underhanded, lazy, has no real leadership skills, yet she is secure in her job because of who she knows. And the rest of the Houston area is littered with even more people just like her.

It's completely advertised that what you need to move beyond retail is...networking...who you know vs your works or track record. If you want a bloated unnecessary $150k+ salary. Networking, meet people. Who give AF what your skill set it. Just know people. Or just learn how to say "file a ticket" seems to suffice.

This is going on in CA too. When you get promoted from rep all the way to DM, all you know is vzw culture. I’m all for promoting from within but this is what you get specifically at vzw.

You have to be on the DMs good side anywhere in corporate retail.

Wisconsin and Northern Illinois (WNI) is littered with corruption and agency problems stemming from the DM's conscious bias, Inconsistent policy enforcement, CLEAR favoritism, and clique of cronies. I've been told directly by the DM that Equal Employment Opportunity is a technicality and that they already know who they are hiring before the interviews start, referring to it as "playing the game". If you aren't kissing a-s and feeding his ego good luck even keeping your job let alone applying for a promotion (apparently that's "The Game"). Oh and you can forget about employee confidentiality, if you mention anything to the leadership team every other store all the way down to the reps will know your business, even if it's privileged information, literally within the next hour. It's incredibly unprofessional and disgusting that people like this are put in positions of power, not to mention the liability they bring to the table.

Can confirm that this company is "it's not what you know, it's who you know".

ET in ET. Should be good at his job, but he is way worse than his ego will let him believe. You would think after 10 or so years he would be good at this, most people don’t make it that long, they get promoted…

Plan your exit. This job is done. Don't hinder your self or skill. Lots of places are hiring.
