Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Late Evening Calls

My Management has asked me to attend late evening calls with Offshore teams. Had to feed them with information and walk through each step. I smell something is not right.

“ This works as long as they can continue to keep their database installed base which has become extremely difficult to replace.”

Don’t count on this. Everyday these so-called unreplaceable dbs are being replaced, adding to the knowledge base and advancing newer tech.

Yeah, you are training your replacements. They can hire 4 people there in place of you here. They won't know what they are doing, but management will get their bonus for the cost-cut. That's all that matters. Might be a disaster when you are gone, but they don't care about the future.

One might ask: how come ORCL stock goes up when there is no real revenue growth?

  • Oracle replaces its high paid employees with third world countries ones whenever it can: Offshoring
  • Oracle buys back huge amount regularly of its own stock

Since oracle has incredible 50% net margin they don’t really need to increase revenue since they are already collected over $40 billion per year.

This works as long as they can continue to keep their database installed base which has become extremely difficult to replace.

Another word, Oracle has created a cash cow machine very difficult to replace
