Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

If you agree to the deal, they can still deny early retirement

If I choose to take the early retirement deal, in August they will decide if it goes through or not. I am guessing that once they meet their needed number, some will not get the deal. It would be an easy decision for me, but I have 8 more years until I am available for Medicare and have ongoing heath issues which could quickly bankrupt me without health care coverage. I am still trying to figure out a way to take the incentivized early retirement though. This is an awful place to work now.

There will be no later end date. You accept you’re out of here, as it should be. Integration is being talked about and constant meetings held about it. The real fun starts after integration, the cluster of all clusters will be then. Get your popcorn and enjoy!

If you're too valuable, they may approve but give you a later end date. There will be some type of clause to allow them to use you until you're dispensable. Bless their hearts!

Take the offer and hope you are not blocked as “you’re too valuable”. You are likely too get a rif later anyway at a much cheaper buyout if any. Some areas are already being told if you’re client facing, sales for example, they aren’t allowing you to accept the offer. Run out the door laughing and figure out the rest of your life later.

It's put people in a quandary, If you choose to apply, you're telling the company you want out. If they deny your application, what's to say your manger decides you're not a team player. Remember, you've been with the bank 10 years or more and your 55. The people who will be applying are those with just a year or two more before retirement, this would bridge the gap for medicare with the additional insurance and severance. That's a huge amount to pay out, trying to figure what's the catch? If it sounds to be good to be true, it usually isn't. I'm really lost here on what to do. It's not like they've been up front!
