This past Friday a friend of mine was made an offer for a part time job within my district. I actually referred him because all the stores in the area need the help and he’s pretty techy. So the big issue I have is that his hourly starting pay is 18.50 and I have been with Verizon 3 years and make 18 hourly. How is this even possible ? I would like to contact HR about it however I don’t want it to jeopardize his new job because he showed me the paperwork. It’s totally unfair though.

Most companies that offer part time pay more hourly. That's just how it is. Part time wouldn't be worth it otherwise.
GMs can see everyone’s pay. Just ask them.
All pay is going to depend on what area you live and how bad they need people. It’s all about when you start, it’s like a promotion sometimes people get better promotions, it sucks and not fair.
It illegal for Verizon to say you can’t share Salary information. But I would wait a month or two then bring up the fact that new hires are getting paid what you are getting paid.
This has been happening for years. I’ve always wondered why new hires have been staring at the same pay as those that have been with the company 5 plus years and have gotten a raise each year.

The government is paying people to stay home. Gotta pay $$ to hire people today. If they offered $17 so it's under you, they may not be hiring many people.
As the song says, 'these are the breaks, break it up break it up, break down!'
Must not be a very good friend to rec for this job lol. I would only rec people that I didn't really like or that were totally down and out. Even then I wouldn't want my name on it.
Lol remember the post claiming they were hiring people at 12 a hour lololol
Legit you should definitely bring it up to HR department ! I have heard of this happening before but I don’t understand how they let it happen. Imagine though if they bring your hourly pay up to what your friend was hired on for you still get snubbed. It would be like the three years you put in means nothing. This company blows...why would you recommend him to work here in the first place ? lol.
Sharing your salaries is not a crime it's just taboo.
