Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Document, document, document... LEAVE!

I created a great new project. I thought it might be something to work on for quite some time.

I worked every weekend for 8 months. Then, the people I was working with told me to document everything and get out.

Document, document, document... LEAVE!

So I left. No document, document, document. I just left.

Don't let anyone sc--w you over. There is always somewhere else to go. If you are the one doing the work, there is something better for you out there.

LEAVE, LEAVE, LEAVE, and never bother documenting anything for the sc-m you LEAVE behind you.

Like it's been said here... Oracle is a total waste of your time. Don't help the scumbags and rats. Don't pay attention to their squeals, they deserve what they get.

Same thing with building unit tests. If the management wants you to build a bunch of unit tests for your software, that means it's going somewhere without you.

"it appears that there are some issues, let's have a turn-over meeting at 11:30 tomorrow".

I walked out of the building at 11:00.

LOL, love this! This is the way to do it. In addition to the documentation I was supposed to do, I had to give a demo, thought about walking out the day before that. Should have done that. But they got no documentation at least. Scumbags.

If your manager is asking you to document, warning bells should be going off in your head.

Good for you.
For the last six months before I retired from Oracle I kept telling management that the performance item I was testing had some serious issues. The standard answer was "nothing is wrong, you just don't understand the product".
The day before I retired (they knew I was leaving) I received an email: "it appears that there are some issues, let's have a turn-over meeting at 11:30 tomorrow".
I walked out of the building at 11:00. That's now three years ago. No regrets.
BTW: that whole organization was walked out the door two years later, an other example of management being arrogant and refusing to listen to anybody.

Right on man! I was asked to document what I've got for some amount of work when the time was 2 months ahead of they RIFed me. I did not too.

Good for you! Better yet, maybe document off your personal laptop so you can create something similar for the next company. I don't understand why companies put their employees through this. They may have leverage but only up to a certain point and they can only push an employee so far.
I had to do similar documentation and train the next person and I wanted to kick myself every day since. If I could turn back the clock, I would just tell them I found a new job and leave immediately and change my cell number. Try to leave on your terms as much as possible.
