Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I admit that I don't handle change well.

I wished that I did, but I don't. It's hard adjusting to new surroundings and new people.
It's hard when you're used to having a routine daily and you're comfortable in that routine and then suddenly a change beyond your control happens.
But change is a part of life and it comes for all of us. I just wish I welcomed it better.

You're not alone. Most people do. But you get to a point in life when other people depend on you, and that's when you really have to deal with change. And that's when you find out change is really not that scarey.Good Luck!

The number of changes our team has endured over the last three years is astounding, and they keep coming. Change fatigue, anyone?

If you can't respond well to change you are destined for failure. Doesn't matter where you work.

Change is hard but ultimately you are much better off focusing on the things you have control over. You can decide if you should be looking for other work, you can choose your attitude, you can reach out to your support system or build up a better support system. I always feel better when I make choices to proactively move forward rather than remaining angry and upset about something “that has happened” to me. Try it and see !

I love the humble honesty of this post.

Many of us feel this way.

It has to start gelling at some point or we won't be viable. Hang in there, and know you aren't alone.

I’m okay with change I initiate, but who likes change that’s thrust upon them? Not many. Nothing we can do about it though, so the best thing to do is prepare. Cut unnecessary expenses, save money, update your resume a little at a time so you don’t have to do it under duress.

Start a job search while you still have a job so you can interview for jobs without feeling desperate.

I'm fine with change, I really am, but it's detrimental when it's constant change because no one can ever become an expert at what they do if it changes every 5 minutes. It's setting a team up for failure when you don't allow them the opportunity to become SMEs, just for the sake of making changes or justifying the existence of some manager / project team.

There is a different between change for the better and change or change’s sake. Too much of the latter because it doesn’t make sense from a line employee point of view, only to those in the nosebleed section who fell in love with the buzzword but has no idea how things actually work at the employee level.

I'm with you, OP. Some of us enjoy a stable routine. It's jarring and stressful when the routine is changed.

It's interesting that we are required to accommodate different communication methods, cultures, personality types, etc. Yet, for those of us who don't seek constant change, we are asked to adapt.
