Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Head of Investor relations

To the people that think there is no elitism or nepotism at AIG, another top executive position filled by a friend from Marsh. Imagine that!

I agree, but it's not always about race. It is about being connected. If you are connected you are golden no matter what color you are. If you are not connected, you have no chance to progress.

And every 3 to 5 years a new group of connected people replace the old group of connected people to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. Everyone else is disposable. I agree that most connected people are white, but there have been several of color in my department over the years. Non-connected white people are just as disposable as non-connected people of color. It's more about elitism than racism in my experience.

The current group of connected executives are just being forced to push diversity so of course they do it to the lower pay grades to avoid disrupting their inner circle. It's the circle of life at AIG. This group just overcompensates which usually indicates they have something to hide.

Discrimination against minorities who perform just as well as non minorities hurt the company. Anytime you treat one set of people worse than another, for no good reason, you’re hurting your bottom line. That too is a fact.

I think the percent minorities at each layer of the company (many at lower, few at higher) speaks for itself about minority treatment.

Agree, do we have a combined ratio for diversity? No, just get the job done. Period.

Doesn't matter if you are black, brown, yellow, red, orange and worst of all white. Just do some work and stop the non-sense. This isn't a charity organization.

Let's be honest. It is hard for people to hear the truth these days. I get it. But........

AIG is not a very good insurance company. It can barely make money. If it wasn't such a huge company it would have been dissolved years ago. That is fact.

You work here because you can't find anything better or because you have been here so long that you feel you need to stay until the end or until you are paid to leave. That is fact.

AIG will go over the top diverse on interns and low level pay grades, but not at the corporate executive levels. That is fact.

So let's stop acting like we really care about diversity and inclusion and let's focus on making money. A company that doesn't make money is a company that isn't going to be around long. A company that pushes ridiculous quotas is a company that isn't going to be around long. A company that only rewards certain friends and family isn't going to be around long. Shut up with your feelings and let's figure out how to succeed. Otherwise it will be over and your hurt feelings will be in the unemployment line. That is a fact.

The last post is funny and true!

I don't even care who PZ hires because it will never be me in one of those roles so it is really not relevant to my career. Just stop being a hypocrite, stop the corporate preaching. This is a company, a job. I don't need AIG to be my moral compass and I don't need to waste my time with another woke webinar.

Here is an idea, how about people actually do some work? You know the stuff you are supposed to do to get a paycheck.

You don't know what this position means to PZ and the company! How can you NOT pay 7-digit to someone who's willing and able to eat the sh-t performance of PZ & co before the whole Wall St?

Thank you PZ for creating such a diverse and inclusive company where only connected individuals get seven figure salaries, sti, lti and corporate perks. Your dedication to keeping the top execs safe from the rif/raf is to be commended.
