This past week I was given a heads up that a few stores in my area (Northeast) will be converting to indirect locations. The official word is suppose to come out this Tuesday. My question is when this happens what type of options do the corporate store employees get ? I know this type of situation happens a lot and figured someone on here has been through it. Also what is the time frame of the conversion ? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

So, I can be purchased like they own me? I "get" to go work for less benefits? I already work for the company and I get to reapply? Or am I just too old? Maybe I look different than my DM? I'm not a "gamer" and I require a FT paycheck. Probably I didn't kiss enough bu-t and cheerlead in chat. If you don't act subservient then you just can't stay. Damn this company grew weak. We don't want the best, we want the cheapest and the most naive.
Technically if a 3rd party purchases the store, you should have an opportunity to transfer to a new store or district. There is also the back door way of not having to give severance pay if the 3rd party offers you to stay as a rep, then your position is not being “diminished” to where you’d be eligible for a package. The turn around time can be fast considering the indirect does not have to set up the store and already have inventory. Good luck!
I’m northeast as well and I have heard some rumblings about a call tomorrow or Thursday for Gm and DM. I’m acting while I have my GM out on a brief leave. I feel like our NNE week huddle call this morning was a little rushed and not the pump up we normally get.
As an SM I’m expecting a layoff in the next few months. My co-SM is the perfect employee and it would be a waste to keep me over him and we know it. At least I have a possible job offer externally coming later this week.
Just because there are job reqs open doesn't mean they can't close a store. I've seen it happen before a few times, actually had a rep at my store interview for a job at a store only to find out that store was closing 2 weeks after his interview.
To the OP this happened at a store I worked at 3 years ago so the way they handle things now may have changed. They offered basically three choices : Transfer or apply to a different location or position within the company, accept job at indirect location or take a severance package. At the time there were 8 reps, 2 SM’s and a GM. Everyone except for 1 rep was transferred within two districts and that lone rep took a severance. Keep in mind this was well before the new commission changes so there was zero interest working for an indirect because the compensation overall did not compare. I imagine the same choices will be offered to any future conversions and the likelihood of someone going to indirect would be a lot stronger. Good luck !
Too many job openings at the moment. We are not there yet. Good job keyboard warrior Mom more meatloaf.
It is a payweek so this could be correct. But there is also openings at vast majority of locations. So this could go 50/50.
