Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Union info needed

I work in Northern Connecticut and would like information regarding the union. Online CWA has a website but then only way to contact someone is to fill out a form and someone locally will contact me back. I don’t want that I would rather call and speak to someone directly without giving up all my info just yet. The phone number listed goes to a voice mailbox. Anyway I’ve talked to several employees in Northern CT and Massachusetts and we want some info before we speak to anyone in person. I wish someone from CWA would come put flyers or something on the cars by the store so we have a contact number to call. Some reps in these stores are interested so try reaching out thanks : Enfield Ct, South Windsor Ct, West Hartford Ct, Massachusetts stores.

@1hlo+1bU7eEIx Soliciting at a Verizon door is one thing but randomly putting fliers on car windshields is another.

oh one more thing why do you think there is a no solicitation sign at your door?

Yea its to keep door to door salespeople out.

CWA cant put or give out fliers cause that would be solicitation now wouldn't it ?

Its a uphill battle for sure.

Good Luck

Sometimes organizing at least gets attention.

I know the corporate store in Augusta, Maine went through this many years ago.

They didn't unionize else they be closed or switched to indirect (funny how that works).

You can ask the GM there all about it.

You can also ask the one in Auburn, Maine too.

They know all about it.

Too bad the old GM had to get moved to b2b to New Hampshire as his great leadership caused his removal though as he was doing such a great job.

I would just want to go Union out of spite lol
Verizon is going to hire all of the lower cost staff and when they are trained, they will start to close/transfer to authorize more stores and the tenured reps will not have jobs because there will not be room.
One good thing I will say about the AT&T Union is, that when AT&T transferred all those store to authorize retailers, people still got a option to work from home.

Don’t let the naysayers dissuade you. There is a big difference between union in a couple stores, and the union being up in the business of a whole company. AT&T. Those people still have a ton of garbage to deal with, but with the union deals the reps can control the biggest resource Verizon likes to exploit—time. And at least the pay isn’t hurt by financially weaponized surveys.

@tab+1bU7eEIx You May be 100% correct but let us hear them out and make a decision for ourselves.

A lot of union haters and a lot of people upset. But the facts are pretty straightforward. The union did not provide a voice for the employees in Brooklyn. All of the things you are upset about, the union has no control over. Same comp changes. Same hours. Same staffing. Same systems. Same accountability. The list goes on and on. The union will tell you whatever you want to hear but the reality is that they didn't deliver.

@cmu+1bU7eEIx I would like to at least listen to what a union rep has to say. We as retail employees have had no say in all of the dramatic decisions VZW has made in the last year . We don’t really have a voice. I’m not saying I’m all for a union but I want to hear them out. Verizon just wants us to do surveys and treat things like a number. Speak to us like a real person face to face.

Do you have extra money laying around that you want to light on fire? Better yet, just give it to me. I will be as helpful as the union. Sorry, but it's not a solution.
