I love how people keep saying there's no rhyme or reason to layoffs at Nike. There is definitely a method, it is just not the one that makes any sense to us. And they sure as he-l are not going to share it with us. What makes no sense to us, makes perfect sense to the numbers pushers who make these decisions.

In plain sight: D&I goals. Cost savings are an ancillary benefit but it’s about the former.
Sorry but the method is as simple as who knows who, who is friends with who and how close to a vp in the room you are. I got laid off while others stayed and got given my job. They worked half as hard, were half as talented (sorry to sound arrogant but I know it’s true) and had half the resume I have. But they were hired by the man making decisions and I had only female vp’s to back me and oh, did I mention- all of those were already laid off so there was no one left that cared for me. I know people who got moved to teams they had no interest in or skills in because their friends were in charge of it and wanted to save them. I don’t even know if I blame anyone for this, it’s just the reality. In a sl------r you save your people I guess!
