So people on my team are trying to say they have to stay remote because they don’t want to pay childcare…..or it’s too hard with kids… blah blah…I wasn’t ever given that option when I had my two kids. Most of us werent! How is that a reason to stay remote? We need to make RTO fair to everyone!! If three days are required - then let’s come in three days. Not that tough.

@yss+1bRlX4J1 oh no, I start work at 6, my daughter is up at 9:30 and my mother undergoing chemo is watching her while I work the other 4.5 hours which is already hard for her, I can’t ask her to do more time unfortunately. Any working I’m doing beyond 8 hours (which is typical) is while my daughter keeps busying independently playing near me. It’s a delicate juggle but it’s been working to keep both of them safe.
If I've learned one thing, WF sincerely has the worst people on the planet working here. Just all around, at every level, truly awful.

You people complaining having children should exempt you is ridiculous. If you don't like it then find a WFH job. It's people like oyu that bring companies down with your entitled attitude.
Do you work or run a daycare?
Can’t do both
As a father with two children, WFH with a wife who goes into the office, I always work holiday time as it is the slowest time of the year.
I take my PTO during the summer.
@jmv+1bRlX4J1 GENERALLY people don’t choose to have children with high risk disorders and diseases that make Covid particularly dangerous for them. And also my daughter is just 3 so she doesn’t go to school, and if she was of school age we would be doing school at home until she’s vaccinated
No one mentions the hedge language used "unless management deems otherwise" for how may days a week are WFH - guarantee there will be areas that don't get any....
Riddle me this. Some of us are on teams from Wachovia days that were designed to be dispersed across all four time zones where there are only 1-2 people in any hub city. In the event of major catastrophes, the geographic dispersion was to help ensure there would be staff available.
So now, the plan is we will go to our hub locations to still meet over video chat?
Wow, you guys must think we live in the progressive northern european country you’re so afraid of us becoming, with all this reasonable childcare, holidays, and healthcare talk
They’re are always exceptions, that is what accommodations management is for. But GENERALLY, you chose to have a child so you knew what you were getting into. This pandemic changed a lot of priorities for sure, but you chose to be a working parent. You are risking your child by sending them to school and exposing them as well. Are you complaining about that?
@hgx+1bRlX4J1 thanks your advice to the situation is so insightful, truly. I wish not to quit the job I’ve had 15 years to live off assistance for a situation that could be given some flexibility
As a childless woman who in many past roles was expected to pick up the slack and work all holidays for co-workers with kids, can’t agree with this more.
Parents spending Christmas with their children?
Sure, no problem. Plan ahead, schedule your PTO and go for it. Just don’t expect your team mates to change their long scheduled plans at the last minute because you didn’t know Xmas was coming.
The manager FAQ states they will not be making accomodations for people with unvaccinated children. It's either come into the office, use PTO, take a leave of absence, or find a new job.
@avl+1bRlX4J1 Then quit and take care of her
Parents spending Christmas with their children? Not on my watch, bucko
So if you choose to have children you should be entitled to special privileges. Bet you think your child free colleagues should cover your work so you can go to your kid’s soccer game too. And of course you get to take your PTO over the holidays even though you didn’t plan ahead - because children.
Sc--w that.
Wow it’s crazy that the company was able to function perfectly well with wfh, and rake in those profits you guys seem to gloat about. Pi----g people off to make thousands of them quit and needlessly raising overhead will surely result in a more efficient organization
@etk my daughter has an AIRWAY disorder, and her pediatrician and her pulmonologist specifically said she should not be in daycare until vaccinated. And Wells specifically said having a high risk and/or unvaccinated child is not a qualifying accommodation.
@jpo Did your high risk child go out in the world pre Covid? Also, you can certainly work out specific scenarios with your manager. But in general, not wanting to pay for childcare isn't changing the tide of going back to the office.
I didn’t have a nice thing, therefore nobody ever can after me. Boomer.txt
I don't want to pay for gas or parking, or wear out the tires on my new Highlander. I should be allowed to stay at home. In fact, working distracts me from even thinking about kids, so maybe they should keep paying me, but not make me work.
STOP. People are seriously using childcare as a reason to not ever go back to office? Jeez. Three days a week for all
Except for our children are not vaccinated in the middle of a pandemic? My high risk child cannot go to daycare until vaccinated. Riddle me that.
Agree. We are hearing it in my group too. I’m already tired of it. Make it fair to all
Bet you also had to walk uphill in the snow both ways.
