BRUH! I DONT EVEN ASK THE MANAGERS to take a lunch, I INFORM THEM.
IDGAF if we’re 20 deep in the queue. You DO NOT HAVE TO ASK. We’re not children here. Look at your schedule and take your break at your scheduled time. If you’re with a customer during that time, make arrangements to go afterwards.
MANAGERS 👏🏻 CANT 👏🏻 FORCE 👏🏻 YOU 👏🏻 TO 👏🏻 STAY.
Yal do this sht to yourselves when you say “my manager made me work bell to bell without a lunch” 😂😂😂 that sht is so ridiculous. You’re ALLOWING them to spend your most important currency (Time)

You aren't a trash employee to view your own life and time as valuable. It isn't up to the lowest-paid employee in the company to make sure every customer is assisted at the expense of their personal life and time. This attitude that people "just don't want to work" is foolish... I could stay all day every day and there would always be more customers to help, more discrepancies to resolve, more PCAs to submit. Take your time... It's not that serious. People can do in store pick up. If working with a rep is worth the hour and a half wait then they can wait because YES my skills ARE VALUABLE.

This is why retail is dying, attitudes like this and employees like this now run the stores. There used to be pride in our jobs and we could make a real career at Verizon while controlling our own checks. Now we have trash employees like this everywhere and the good people are leaving retail.

@1nrq+1bMMAEa3 This sums up why taking away individual commission was a terrible move. We all need a break once in a while but when money was on the table most would delay eating and take the 3 new lines. Now there is zero drive and nobody wanting to go that extra mile because no commission anymore. I remember the times when reps would stay later when it was busy so they could pad those checks and managers relied on that. Ha ! Like someone else said now there could be 10 customers in the que and if it’s my break time or end of shift I’m gone. Great job Verizon ! Didn’t plan ahead for that one did you ?

To the last response… totally understand. As a manger, I only clock out for lunch if I’m leaving the store… because if I don’t, every 5 seconds I’m asked for my codes or to help de-escalate a situation. I’m all for helping reps with any situation, but VZW is going to pay me for it now. 3 years ago, I’d be happy to help off the clock.

I used to have managers poach me in the break room “hey, hey, I know you’re on lunch but there’s 3 adds in the queue, we need you” ….yeah ok, never came out. I take all the time I need for lunch, for the past 8 years I’ve worked for VZW I never knew that we also get two 15 min I clocked breaks through the day too. I make sure I take those as well.

As a manager, I say take your lunch! It’s not only illegal in most states for us to not allow you to take a break, but also ridiculous. I hate to say it, but if you get pushback, let HR know. Leave a paper trail for every instance you feel you aren’t being treated fairly.

I think it technically depends on your state. Many states do not have guaranteed lunch. But even among the right to work states that don't allow for lunch, many of them have laws that make employee handbooks a contract that supersedes a state's right to work status.

I worked a mid shift and a rep called out. My manager tried to tell me that since we don’t have a closer that I have to stay.

Did I stay?
