Can't manufacture a culture. It has to be organic to be real.
"Unleashing the force of Truist culture?!"
Welp, we already knew they were Sith lords...
Seriously though this "connect your personal purpose with our corporate purpose" sounds like "owe your soul to the company store - but be happy about it!" Umm employees connect our personal purpose by paying our bills thank you very much.
They lost me when they felt the need to push the liberal agenda down our throats weekly. Everyone is entitled to their own political views but I should not have to come to work and hear it on conference call after conference call or memo after memo.
The wind went out of my sails when I heard Kelly King gleefully tell analysts on an earnings call that the two cultures were coming together “better than he could have ever imagined”, and that teammates were getting along great and going to lunch together. What??? I go to work and see 1) inefficiency and apathy rampant across the entire bank as there is absolutely no teamwork (or trust) whatsoever between the two heritage organizations; and 2) myriad client issues due to trying to force two polar opposite service cultures together.
My guess is that it is readily apparent now to anyone, regardless of which side they were on, that it would have been tough to pick two worse cultures to attempt to merge together. Hey, I totally understand a CEO can’t tell analysts things are “terrible”, but the distance between his giddy statements of unity, and the cold reality of what teammates are dealing with on a daily basis is immense in my opinion. My feeling is how can you respect a “leader” that is so callous and detached? And a “leader” that awards himself a big raise, while those paying for his mistake with their jobs and sanity are told they get nothing?
Probably when it first took me 5 attempts to get just one system request done properly. So let's say 2 weeks from starting.
Was it right after the merger or did it take you a while?
