Elevator Resignation Story

Thank you to whoever made up the story being passed around about running into an old colleague near the elevator and telling them to not resign.

Needed some comedic relief on my Wednesday.

The story is completely pathetic. Whoever shared it in emails was even more pathetic. It just showed how desperate and useless leadership/upper management is at EM right now.

The elevator resignation story is heart warming. I hope Hallmark Chanel makes a movie about it.

So as someone in industry who does not work there, is it that bad? Seems like all employees hate it? Or is this like everything in O&G right now where only the negative aspects get headlines? Isn’t there like 40,000 employees or something? I would like to work there. Change my mind.

This story is true (except he is a she). When the email was forwarded to me, it was laughable and I had to read it twice - i thought it was a joke. Have we really fallen to the level of strangers asking strangers to not resign? This was way cheesier than a Double Cheese Pizza from Chuckie's. I dont know why she even took the time to write that email, THEN have the sense to FORWARD the email upline to her LT right after sending to her direct reports.....THEN her LT decided to forward it around like it was a feel good story! Its really a sad story and a microcosm of the state of ExxonMobil.

For those who dont know the story .. apparently someone ran into an old friend at the campus and they parted ways. Few seconds later such friend came back just to tell his friend that he was special and that XOM appreciated him and that he hoped that he never resigns. The story became popular because apparently the guy was indeed thinking about resigning but this little interaction with his old bud make him change his mind.

Story has been shared all over UIT and everyone praises the poster for having so much courage! Its all pathetic imho.

I heard it was at the adjoining urinals in the men’s room on the 3rd floor in E3.

Where all the magic happens.

There are not cameras nor microphones in the company elevators.
Even those used to by senior personnel.
Or parking garage cameras.
This kind of rumor is bad.

@lve+1bIcRuWo - If you had any reading comprehension skills you’d know that I’m making fun of the elevator story and the brown nosers sharing it.
