Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Moonshot retiring, Edgeline now private

I was with the Moonshot and Edgeline group until I got laid off in July 2020. Next week would be my first year of being gone at HPE. I still communicate with my friends at the company.

I was told that this organization was dissolving. The Moonshot product line is retiring and Edgeline would now be a private SKU (which probably means that no one else is going to buy it).

True, while that group didn’t make a ton of money for the company, it was the black sheep and we kept our margins high before COVID. It wasn’t really part of Neri’s mission of edge-to-cloud, however. Funding never came to our group to expand the portfolio. We were fragile and COVID proved that.

I am glad that I was able to leave the company but I’m concerned for my friends who are still there that was part of that organization, whoever is left that is. A lot of people left after my layoff. Sad to see a group that wanted to be different from the rest of HPE is now disappearing for good.

Curses to the bureaucracy of HPE. I hope Neri steps down from being CEO. How has their board not voted him out yet?

Neri has announced his strategic vision. He wants to sell the world’s most expensive boat anchors to unsuspecting customers who might think the anchors are really reliable servers.

Hah! Sounds familiar. Our group recently shipped a major product out to customers, and within 2-3 weeks they hit fundamental and embarrassing issues. Issues we would have found, had we actually gotten the funding to test the hardware we were shipping. Myopia runs rampant here.

Use your experiences good or bad at HPE to help propel you forward to greatness.
