So many people in Midland and Carlsbad still hoping the COLA will return. Sad really. I keep wondering how they will react when they realize it is not coming back.

Well they can’t get qualified employees to move out now and it still isn’t coming back.
The premium didn’t exist for Permian until they could not get qualified employees to move out. There were a quite a few heritage Permian folks already there that knew that this premium was temporary to fill the void. It may came back at 10%, but doubt we’ll ever see 20% premium for domestic assignments again. And the 10% will also be for as long as it’s needed.
Obviously all the ones that don't think it'll come back or cared if it comes back have left or are planning to leave. When enough people have left and nobody wants to come to Midland or be hired by Exxonmobil for Midland, then maybe some form of COLA might return. Why is it "Sad really" for the people working in these areas that had their COLA taken away and hoping it comes back? Are you some sort of schadenfreude troll? GFY
Why don’t they just drink Pepsi, instead?
