But wait, by October 1st you won’t believe how bad it will be and by year end your wildest imagination can’t fathom where this circus will be. The tent will not be big enough. King Rogers is already imposing his will. Just wait until he takes control.

I couldn't agree with you more, Kelly isn't stupid, this was calculated, and he fooled everyone. There will be no legacy for Kelly King, I put him in the same category as Bernie Madoff, squandering millions and ruining many former BB&T employees lives. I wonder what John Allsion has to say about this.
The truth has been painful, as Kelly King has shown himself to be either immensely d-mb, or a tremendous fraud. This merger has shown there are simply no other explanations than one, or a combination of (most likely), these two traits.
The good news is there are great things opening up in the job market, and the best thing we can do is to put this chapter behind us. Many coworkers commented over the years how weirdly arrogant it was for a Bank CEO to assume we need his lectures on morality. Turns out (oh so very predictably) that the person desperately needing the morality lesson was the one shamelessly delivering them.
Also a former BBTer here. I left about a month ago and it’s finally nice to be free from the constant doom and gloom and threat of constant layoffs. Kelly “Seeds of Nope” King really pulled a fast one on all of us. I used to think all of his motivational bloviating was sincere but this merger proved he doesn’t practice what he preaches.
I'm one of those HBBT teammates, well was one of those. I left almost a year ago because it was so clear that it was a SunTrust takeover and that the BB&T way of doing things (meaning actually getting things done) was unacceptable. It was such a mess. I spent so much time in meetings discussing new "policies" and new forms that needed to be filled out, and never actually getting any work done. It was such a complete 180 from how things were on the BB&T side. Everything we adopted was 95% SunTrust and it all seemed geared toward creating as much bureaucracy as possible while doing everything possible to keep actual legit work from getting done. Good luck to those of you that remain. Leaving was the best decision of my life but I still wish I could've been one of the lucky ones to be RIF'd.
HBBT had approximately 35,000 employees at merger. I don’t know how many have left during the last year but it certainly is no where near that. Many thousands still remain in this s***show. Yes a large number of them will continue to be targeted by the clowns leading this circus and will be miserable until they can get out. As to changing back to the Suntrust name I’m certain if this could be done new King Rogers would gladly do so. Charlotte would be happy as that would remove the stripper lights off the building downtown. While they continue to run this operation into the abyss with their silos of stupidness, worthless reports and check the box mentality many business units continue to lose sales dollars because they simply don’t have a clue what they are doing. But hey they talk a helluva game!
I guess you are referencing how bad things are going to get for the SunTrust “teammates”. Understand, most heritage BB&T employees have been made well aware of their prospects for a year+ now, and have either left Truist, or are (or should be) in the process of leaving. So, unless Bill Rogers has the ability to fire ex-BB&T employees from their new jobs at other companies, there aren’t going to be many BB&T employees left for him to gleefully can at Truist. I honestly wish the Board would go ahead and change the name back to SunTrust while Kelly is still Chairman - that would put some finality on this disaster of a merger and give Kelly a tad bit of his own medicine on his way out.
