Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

When will 2021 PIP/PIL announcements happen?

I know they are supposed to start in July, but does anyone know if they will happen at the beginning, middle or end of the month? I am in EMIT if that effects it.

NRE is Near Retirement Eligible. This is an employee within 3 years of either 15 years service or an employee within 3 years of 55 years of age. Examples: 52-54 years old with 12-14 years service. 55+ year old within 3 years of the 15 year service requirement. The company is terrified to terminate them. They can be PIPd, but almost zero chance of termination even if they fail. Company fears lawsuits due to the appearance that an NRE was terminated so close to retirement to avoid paying retirement benefits.

I hope this explanation helps you.

What's an NRE?

@tod

That pretty much sums it up. NREs can be PIPd but can't be terminated for failing. A "sweet spot" indeed.

Sounds like NREs are sitting in a pretty sweet spot.

CORRECT. An NRE would have to commit something really serious to be terminated: not showing up for work, failed dr-g test etc. pretty good spot to be in.

NREs will have to do Documented Performance Counseling Plan. You will pass unless you f-up really bad.

What about NRE's? You can't take the PIL or Retire. What if you get an NSI?

In December folks were told “you have the right skillet and behaviors for the culture going forwards.” And roughly six months later will be NSI’d - it is really a tragic comedy as opposed to a well-oiled machine. Get it?

Blood letting has begun in Baton Rouge. Lots of good folks deemed not good enough. Going to be interesting watching management point fingers when we begin tripping due to none left that has a clue.

Some are already informed, but the official papers cannot be distributed until next week.
There will be a 2 minute phone conversation (read from a cue card) and then email of the papers within seconds after.
If there is any efficiency in the system - this is where it begins.

Supposed to begin next week but jumping the g-n is Houston tradition.
Now that General Bloomberg spilled the beans, it hardly matters.
Stretch it out by any means - last day decision.
If you are going PiL, then basically start handing things off, but don't declare it till the last day.

Over the next couple weeks, expect to hear alot of advice on this board.
Take it in, but be cautious listener.
Prepare to reload the printer a few times. If they are not disabled starting Friday.
It is meant to be hard.

What is MAC group? I am an experienced hire. So not fully well versed on all acronyms yet.

MAC groups don’t get PIP. They get fired. And yes there was a target for MAC to be fired.

Next week, right after July 4th holiday just like last year. Make sure you take the full time till the last day before signing any documents on which option you choose.

Supervisors have already started signaling to relevant individuals that they are part of NI or NSI bucket. HR is yet to release guidance on who will be part of MLRP. It is possible that certain CL groups and/or MAC will be excluded altogether from MLRP, ie still significant focus to improve performance but not under a HR managed program.

They started, I didn’t get PIPd but myself and a few other received PADP feedback today.
