Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What causes you the most stress here?

Even before I got the job here, I knew I was going to go through a lot of stress at Oracle. However, while in the previous company I faced the fears of what will happen in the future because the management was constantly making bad decisions, as well as the stress because the deadlines were terribly short, here I am under the greatest pressure due to demands of my job and unpredictability of my manager.

I can’t lie. This is the best part time job a person could have and I’m gonna milk them for all that I can. I literally don’t care any more and they deserve what they get. So with that. It’s 2pm and I’m done for the day. My unit’s mgmt are trash humans and trash mgmt and they are hated by most and they do nothing for anyone but their little circle of rats.

Besides, who wants to work at a place where shuffling people are common, people are tired and paid off in a six month period and breaking wind about their cow-towed product leader is that he’s a Sally?

If it were that easy to get out of the “Oracle database dictatorship “, it seems companies would do it in a heartbeat; even Amazon that is a leading tech company, it took them years to get out of it, so imagine the average company...

Not as true as it was 5-10 years ago.

There is still a big perception that they are locked in. helped, of course, by Oracle sales and support. I did some consulting and contracting up until COVID and I did my part on reversing that perception. You'd be surprised how many companies still think they are being held hostage in a windowless room when the door is really unlocked.

The only stress I really have is what I put on myself. I know where I am. I am at Kmart of tech with rats for mgmt. I wish that I knew what I got into when I joined an acquisition but I realize now the entire rat mgmt group were just liars who are still stealing money to this day and they are hated with a passion.

What I dread the most is when my boss calls me into his office and tells me to close and lock the door behind me. I know I should relax because it isn’t quite as bad that way, but I clench up all the same and that makes it hurt a lot more.

Maybe start doing kegels in order to build up stamina?

“ long as competition can’t find an easy way to replace their database installed base”

Not as true as it was 5-10 years ago. If Amazon can do any biz can. They know it which is why they are desperate to make OCI happen.

Besides, who wants to work at a place where people shuffling is common, people are hired and laid off in a six month period and breaking news about their cloud product leader is that he’s a bully?

Lots of folks have reconsidered their lives and careers in the past year. These things matter more than they ever did, and @$$h0le companies lose out. As they should!

Regardless of what Oracle losers are saying, as long as competition can’t find an easy way to replace their database installed base, Oracle has a fantastic business model since it generates 50% of net margin on every dollar collected in revenue out of $40 billion in annual revenue; using cost cutting (layoffs and jobs replacement through out 3rd world countries and stock buybacks) they don’t really need to grow revenues.

I dread having to work with anyone. Everyone seems to be lying about something. I just want to do my work and not be harassed or lied to.
