I think in regards to work ethic or character or anything along those lines there's no real difference.
But I do think the generational trend where boomers tend to be more loyal to their employer is apparent on this board. Which is probably more rooted in naivety than anything, but it's the later generations who have a more realistic understanding of the nature of the employer to exploit the employee. I think if you could see the dopey posters here defending WF as they are being led to the sl------r, they'd disproportionately be boomers.
I have known and worked with all 3 generations. All have hard workers, all have a few bad eggs. They have different life experiences and attitudes, yet I find that I can learn something valuable from each generation. I feel that the boomer generation may be more impacted by layoffs, as they tend to have higher salaries due to seniority. So when we need to cut costs, they are an easy target.
Boomer here. I don’t think my generation is any better or worse than others. Judging an entire generation in any way is ridiculous especially if you think yours is better. If you are truly better you should be kind, understanding and generous not critical. Pushing others down does not raise you up.
Boomers work!
