Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Will Verizon ever become a Technology Company

My opinion is Verizon will never become a high tech company. The problem I see is a very old school assembly line mentality. This goes deep into the core of what this company is about. I see it in just about every organization. The leaders are usually old school operations type managers that prob managed union employees like a UPS or buss terminal. Meanwhile they get these high paying jobs as VP of engineering or Director of Technology, when in reality they depended on guys from India that think like a computer to come up with new ideas. It doesn’t work like that. You can’t solely sell your idea on the notion that 5G is going to make that much of a difference. People can care less about that. What’s your idea Verizon? You have no ideas.

Here’s what you came up with ... IPTV bust, Go 90 bust, VZ one news Bust, video production Bust, Concert Series Bust, the guy that goes around filming people lol on eweb Bust lol that guys terrible.

Here’s an idea! You need to start thinking outside the box. Start within the operations. Stop treating it like an assembly line.

Very true point. Meanwhile they have two divisions that are just wasting money, VZ Media is a joke. What a waste.
The other waste is VZ business, they destroyed it ! So all that’s left is Ma Bell

Don’t forget all the millions wasted on project George to compete against aws 5 years ago. Vz finally bailed before launching. There aol and yahoo, cloudswitch and bluejeans conferencing vz purchased last year. Bluejeans is not selling at all because companies already have Cisco or Microsoft or zoom. Vz is making a huge bet on 5G. Hans will be long gone with his golden parachute and 100m in the bank.

They will never be hi tech. They want to do bad. The new leadership talks a great game but they are clueless. Can’t be high tech with union operations holding you down. You can not be efficient clocking in and clocking out. I worked as a manger for 2 years. My director was a clueless city dweller that micro managed. Never had a chance for innovation.

Verizon buys small tech companies tries to run them and they fail and then sells or just shut them down.

Verizon isn't trying to be a technology company. We sell and market telecommunication services. Don't confuse Verizon with a technology company...

  • Tesla created electric vehicles, ev super charging infrastructure, solar roofs, and auto-pilot cars
  • Amazon created cloud computing and ecommerce shopping

what did verizon create? a new super bowl commercial

Verizon is going for looking like a Lambo, but with the internals of a Kia. Essentially they are cutting costs on anything and everything as much as they can while still trying to appear as the best consumer choice. Only problem is that this is not the customer experience at all.

Call Tmobile customer service see how fast you get to someone. Try next with VZ.

The VSP in 2018 is a clear indication that Verizon doesn’t want to be a technology company. 70%+ of IT employees took the VSP or was moved over to infosys. Unfortunately, it seems like the ultimate plan is to completely outsource IT.
