Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Has anyone left and regretted it?

We all know working at Truist can suck but wondering if anyone who has actually left for a job elsewhere actually regrets that decision?

Literally doubled my salary and people actually treat me with respect and good manners instead of like a cog in the wheel. Run run run out that door!

I left in late 2019 when they were picking teams reminiscent of grade school gym class. I got a $15K signing bonus and a 38% raise for a similar role at another bank. Best decision I’ve made to date. Everyone is displaceable. If you’re unhappy, jump ship. And when your new ship is listing or sinking, jump again.

I know over 30 people who have been laid off or voluntarily left, and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them is much happier.

To those saying BB&T’s culture was “quaint and old fashioned”, and the SunTrust “treat workers like nameless trash” is the modern norm - are you serious? Are you Bill and Beau?

I stay in touch with nearly a dozen former coworkers who have left Truist and dispersed to other corporations (yes, “real” modern corporations). There is 100% consensus that the SunTruist environment is not just bad, but horrendously bad compared to their new environment. Said succinctly, Truist is not the norm in modern company treatment of employees, and in my experience it is a morally bankrupt environment.

I ask for a package when I was called in to interview for my position. I thank GOD everyday I was in the right position (time and age) to retire.

I have no regrets.

Nope! 1000% no. Best decision of my life. I check this forum just to get a different angle on how things are going for those poor souls who feel stuck and remain.

Things are starting to look good for job searches as the country opens up. I'm glad to hear good stories about leaving and being happier, good for you and your manager!

My manager was one of the first to leave, shortly after he brought me over. Several months later I was promoted to his position and he landed up leading the division, The bank gave me a substantial raise in order to keep me from looking elsewhere. I'm lucky, so I don't regret leaving, and my family is happier, I'm home by six and no more BS. There are a lot of honest banks that reward their workers for good performance. B&BT use to but that is an end of an era.
