Sunday night gloom

I used to look forward to work. Now I feel gloom and discouragement.

Rather than be "intimidated" and perhaps even "bullied" by some of these posts, I would encourage you to call the ExxonMobil Medicine & Occupational Health (MOH) 1–800–number and engage their professional services to discuss your Sunday night gloom. If you are feeling depressed, MOH's medical services are confidential and can help you be a more productive employee in these stressful times.

Don't be bullied by some of the less sympathetic responses to your post.

OP: Be glad that you don't work for pathetic Corporate Strategic Research (CSR). When you are down, remember there is always someone worse than you.

Op, looks like some cuddle buddies sympathize with you. But, it’s pretty lame to come to a layoff site and complain because you have a job to go to on Monday.

This fu––––g place left me with High bp, high anxiety and borderline depression. So happy to be out. I won’t trade the peace I feel now for anything. My supervisor was as sneaky as they come, lazy id––t who only took credit for our teams work and will throw you under the bus in a hot second. My advise to anyone going through similar, please leave with your two legs or worse in a body bag.

I felt the Sunday gloom every week until I left the company. I was unappreciated in every aspect of my work with no real feedback other than powerpoint and communication criticisms. Somehow, even though I was doing the brunt of the work for my team, and all my customers liked me, my group leads kept screwing me over, taking credit for my work, and beating me down. I was labeled difficult to work with simply for against the grain thinking. Despite saving the company millions of dollars, I could only imagine how bad my ranking session would have gone had I not left.

Now, every Sunday is pretty relaxing, my job pays more, my new team appreciates me. It's not that I look forward to work since nobody does, but I don't feel the existential dread and feeling like I have to constantly watch my back or what I say or who I say it to. I havent met a single person who regrets leaving. The grass really is greener on the other side

Here you go:

“Dear EM, please excuse Timmy from work today. His little tummy hurts. I will keep him home and hope that hugs, kisses and a little rest makes him better. Of course, Timmy won’t feel like doing any make–up work. This better not affect his ranking or else you will hear from Timmy Sr.” Mommy

The aphorisms. Brevity is good.

I only visit this site on Sunday nights.
Like you, OP, I had a feeling I was doing good.
Not only for myself, my family, but for some Greater good.
I also would plot out my goals for the week ahead. Self–respecting.

Which explains why I come to this site on Sunday nite.
Reminds me –
Just tuck it in. Strut the stage with the junk tucked in.

Changing team.. Ask your supervisor on this and you may be put into the NSI bucket for not being a team player.

Changing projects.. Supervisor may put you in the NSI bucket for not being able to handle your projects.

New job... Only try way to be happy. Staying here is just going to lead to further doom and gloom until you are finally ranked NSI and pushed out the door.

Hang in there bud. I've been there and with the toxic environment and narcissists having a free run, it's not surprising that people are having Sunday chills. Readings through some of the comments just validates that. Also, the layers of useless, incompetent team leads and supervisors are responsible for the absolute miserable culture they have created.

What you are experiencing is a sign of toxic culture/environment and I'd suggest a change in environment to help you regain your motivation. That includes changing team, new project or even a new job. No job is worth losing your energy or mental health. Stay strong.

Try being thankful for what you have instead of complaining about what you don’t. Millions of people would trade with you in a second.

Some of the answers reflect the type of people we have inside this company

Lots of people fell the same way as you

Those in the office that brown nose all day. Can't do that from the safety of the home, so OP probably feels like they aren't making an impact.
