Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Everyone is a key holder, sounds like part of their more work less pay strategy.

What used to be a volunteer position/responsibility is now part of the job. Seems smart to give the 10 dollar an hour people the keys and access. I didn’t have a problem being a key holder when I made a third more than I do now, but I wish I could drop it now.......

Nope, vz can change job descriptions. All the changes that have happened recently and in the last few years have happened in Brooklyn too. But the union won't tell you that. Doesn't fit their sales pitch.

If Verizon wasn’t so anti–union and very aggressive in trying to keep them out of retail stores there must be something to it . What is it ? Not being able to change job titles and job descriptions while under a union contract ?

Hey chull, be sure to explain that your union represented employees are getting the exact same and the union can't do anything about it.
Honesty is important.

Union dues are way less than Verizon has taken away from me the last 6 months in money.

OK enough horsing around on this site. I told you these decisions had to be made to reduce overhead. We have to build up 5G before customers find out that they we don't offer real 5G. You want me to get laughed at by my peers? So what if our front line people suffer and customers leave. I have to pay Ericcson back for the alleged crimes they "say" I committed by purchasing 5G equipment from them. No harm no foul. Now go plant a tree!

Everyone is in charge which means no one is in charge. Everyone gets paid the same which means no one gets paid. Everyone waits in line which means no one gets helped. Everyone is a winner which means no one wins. Everyone's opinion matters which means nothing is accomplished.

This is so sad it's starting to become funny to watch.

Go to the Verizon wireless workers page to give your money to the union for nothing? Brooklyn employees have the exact same change. The union has no power over it. Stop trolling for revenue you shameless union organizers.

Maybe this is a good way for the company to get rid of all the solution managers.

Verizon is gonna waste more money on new keys and re–keying stores when one of the reps loses their key every couple months. We the plan here, threaten a PART–TIME employee their job? They are part time! They were never serious about the job from the get–go.

Yes this is no gonna go well. I work in an area that has a lot of turn over as it is. We are already noticing our new hire part–timers have very little career interest/care for the job they are doing. It’s clear they are here just for the part time work then leave after a couple years after school is over. Also a multi store is not what it’s cut out to be. Definitely way more stressful and harder to manage. Each store has one less manager now that the GM goes between each store, which basically makes them a useless body since they always just “take calls/trainings” at home

Everyone with 6 months tenure will be made a key holder now, fulltime or part time.

All of a sudden having everyone in the store a key holder with codes makes sense. Yeah right. For years they always said that it would be a liability to give every employee that empowerment. Of course now with a limited permanent staff I guess it’s ok and the liability just disappeared. How about this ...you can’t just make everyone a key holder without offering an alternative and no I don’t mean we can just quit if we don’t like it. This is an added responsibility that when I accepted my job was clearly not in the job description. I don’t want keys and codes. Now it’s time to be more aggressive in finding out about organizing a union. This is the straw that broke the camels back. I will research the union stuff but does anyone have contact info for the eastern Pennsylvania area ?
