I'm genuinely curious if there is ONE manager, just ONE, who knows how to do their job at this place? One who got where they are not through brownnosing or familial relationships but good old merit? I'm personally yet to met one, but maybe somebody, somewhere managed to sneak by all the kissasses and relatives?

I’ve known a few. Not everyone is a A—ho-e in Verizon. I consider myself a great rep too. I’m just sick and tired of the negativity in my store, the schedule changes without notice, (“oh why are you not here?” That’s because my schedule 3 days ago said I was off) the systems never working and having to do transaction over and over, getting no help from a select manager cause it’s not in his job description. But in the past I’ve had great management now I don’t feel that way.
I think there’s about 12 people.
I have been promoted three times. All three times because of hard work and networking.
By networking ask people what they do.
Ask for time . You will be surprised how open people are VZ are willing to explain their path. Get involved with programs and volunteer for projects.. I didn’t come up from retail so it could be different. However, I did get pass up twice. In VZ, you have to network, get other departments to know your name. It sucks to have to take on more work but really wo knowing someone or having a sponsor, it can be difficult. But I am sure at the Director level it is all about getting tapped. I know several leaders that are ready to be a director but it never seems to happen. All of a sudden, someone out of nowhere gets named.
There are a ton of suck ups but there are many good managers. Don't be salty.
@gbn+1aY1cnET 3 huh?
To be promoted to manager you have to jsut slam whatever the product of the month is. This month it's vz home and credit cards. Next manager will be top in those categories. When you ask them how they did it the same response. "Every customer every time." This is how every single person has been promoted.
7 years. Never seen even a single competent manager that didn’t fall upwards into their position.
I know a director who was hired/promoted because of nepotism. He was the youngest hired director with the company. He talks as if he worked hard to get to where he is. Oh you didn’t know he already had family far up in leadership ?
Personally I know 3, just because you're having a bad experience and you're bitter it doesn't mean the whole of Verizon is bad. I say this as someone severely screwed over while as a Vteamer
There are 7, actually.
