Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Look around, pay attention, know how the game works

Some people are told that their whole team is not getting any raises or bonuses. I suspect that is not really the case.

Look for the guys/gals who hang on the manager's every words. They are in the meetings but they never get assigned any work. Those are the people given credit for what you are doing and taking the bonuses and raises for them and the manager.

While they are running their scam they distract the other people in the group by pointing them at each other. Setting people against each other is a way of keeping people from thinking about what the manager and their sycophants are up to. They get people in the group upset about what the others in the group are doing while they take the credit and the money for all the work being done.

Don't assume that your manager and his followers will not lie directly to you. They will. They are running a scam and you are the dope that they are leading around. They can lie up the chain of command and you will never know it's happening because it is an unspoken rule that managers never talk directly to the reports of the managers under them.

They can also distract people with other things going on outside the group. Don't be distracted. Misdirection is rampant among the management. Pay attention to what your manager is really doing. If you manager is making up excuses for every little thing, think about what he is hiding. Record conversations and zoom sessions, you don't know what the future might bring for you. Could be handy to have that in the end.

Know how the game works and pay attention....

Look around, pay attention, know how the game works, blah, blah blah...

Or, and here's a not-so-radical idea... find a job at a more relevant technology company elsewhere. This will have the added bonus of making you more relevant too.

  1. s. if this idea is new to you then your long-term career prospects are already in trouble

Ask yourself honestly, do you deserve a bonus and pay raise? If you answer yes then ask why you think that.

To the last poster, you are 100000% on point. You definitely know what’s going on and you put it so well. Sad but true.
