I love how people tell us to quit if we don’t like what’s going on. Do you really think it’s that easy? Do you think we don’t have bills to pay and/or children to support? Oh but wait, wait, of course, there are others who say jobs are aplenty - just go out and apply. Well yeah, there are jobs out there, and yeah, I’ve been applying to those in my area and outside of my area for months now with nothing to show for it. Until I’ve found a suitable job that will financially allow me to care for myself and mine - I’m not quitting. And I’ll just bet that there are many within M who are planning the same thing!

@1wxs, you are correct. Every employee’s motivation and obligations are different! No need to explain, and each should take care of themselves professionally and personally.
Not everyone has the ability to be empathetic to those in situations they have never been in, or can’t imagine themselves in. Or maybe they are in the exact same situation ... unhappy and stuck ... but are coping with it differently? Who knows.
Anywho, don’t listen to them! Yes, if you’re unhappy; you should leave ... duh! But looking for a new job FIRST is absolutely the right thing to do! Wanting to make sure you can support your family is necessary. And there is nothing wrong with venting your frustrations in the meantime. It’s therapeutic.
Anyone not wanting to read the ‘negativity’ shouldn’t be on a layoff forum site!? I think most come here to commiserate. There is comfort in knowing you are not alone.

Retail is the worst. Need to still be kind when folks become upset.
The key is learning new skills real skills not customer service or retail. You get what you put in. Learn a trade and you’ll be 10 times better off.
