Lowe’s had a career fair a week ago, and guess what?! Myself and two other of my coworkers got hired! I’m left my “Lead” position, and getting hired at Lowe’s starting at $18! Also interviewed at Tj Maxx, got offered $16. A dollar more than Belk, but ehh I’ll stick to $18!! People wake up. Many Ross stores start at $12, we sell the same merchandise at belk anyways. Target starts at $15! It is hard to get hired there, but not impossible. If you want a leadership position find a recruiter on linkdl and reach out. Hourly? Apply, call and ask for HR, be enthusiastic and introduce yourself.

May not be the increase you’re looking for, but all associates of Belk hired before 10/1, (11/1?), were given a 2% raise. Check your pay results in Workday. 2% may not seem a lot, but even for those going to other retailers for the $15/hr stand a greater chance of reduced hours. Great PR and tactical practice to recruit the best of best looking for change. Retail is retail, is retail. Much better to “know the devil” you’re working for.
Your post has made me wonder what the avg Belk associate gets paid. Employees at mine are making $8.55-9.00...I’m sure those who have been there forever make more. But I’ve been there 2 years with no raise “due to coronavirus”. Annoying.
