Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Did I make the wrong decision?

I was hired less than a year ago and at first I thought this was a company that I could find longevity in. I should have known better after the first few weeks. Training (for lack of a better word) was nonexistent for me and it was basically sink or swim afterwards. I have a supervisor that is truly condescending and any questions I ask of him are met with sarcasm. I came from a company that invests in their employees and the only reason I am here is because they were forced to downsize. I feel like I’ve made a terrible mistake and I’m not sure if it can get worse. I mean, can it get worse?

It’s not Bill and Kelly doing the downvotes. That’s far beneath them. It’s the latest crop of delusional LDP Brown Shirts willing to trade it all for a chance at a SVP title.

Such sorry misguided Tar Heels.

Ha. Once again the 2 kool-aid drinking downvoters are on here again. Wouldn't surprise me if it was Kelly and Bill themselves doing the downvoting. I mean they already cashed in so why bother working to save this mess?

I was reading these comments and started thinking - no matter who you talk to, and no matter what area of Truist they work in, everyone is in absolute agreement that Truist is a terrible place to work. All companies have some weaknesses, but Truist is now laughably bad. I think there are only two paths to the environment improving - a) employees become vocal, and their communities and other outside forces demand change, or b) Truist is bought.

Agreed that the old BB&T did a really good job investing in people and training. When I started with BB&T layoffs were rarely a thing. This merger has really poisoned everything. SunTrust people hate BB&T people and vice versa. It's a big reason why after over a year and a half into this thing we still feel like 2 different companies forced to share the same office space.

The way you describe your manager is unfortunately typical of the current environment. If you can get out and find something else do it.

The old BB&T believed in investing in their people. At least that was my experience from over a decade - training budgets were always generous and promotions were always from within. The SunTruist way of thinking is "it's every man for himself" and when we need to hire a manager or director we're looking outside of the company. It's amazing how fast the SunTrust nasty, backstabbing culture has destroyed how things were at BB&T. Let's be honest it was a SunTrust takeover in everyway but name. It's why I left. BB&T was flawed of course (we all hated the entitled LDPs), but holy cow is SunTruist terrible.

Your time will come. With a boss like that (and this place is loaded with them) you will be in the firing line in no time.

Be sure to Smile at people as you cross a bridge though.

You are now viewing SunTruist from the inside out. Not as nice a view as from the outside looking in. Sorry nobody warned you.
