Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

poor guy

i was laid off in June 2020 I notice no one is left from my dept and my lead looks like he got hit by a bus.. he had bags under his eyes and didn't look like he slept in weeks.. stress riddled his face , the first think i though was that could of been me if they let me stick around... and thank god its not... that place is not worth your health . the funny part is if you complain then it just gets worst for you.. i knew it was all going down hill when for 8 months i was the only person in my dept and i was working 5 days straight with zero help.. i remember i couldn't even walk to my car after the shift cause my legs was wobbling on fire. what i learned from all this is for your next employer make sure they are doing well like target, Walmart, amazon and not this sweat shop. or better yet start your own biz if your going to work to death

So many of the people that came back after the furlough have found jobs making more at other retailers already this year at our store. Managers tried talking most of them into staying but its hard to argue with an extra $3 or even $4 an hour. All but one of our old Leads are the people who left since they lost the Lead role and were pushed back to regular associates. Everyone who was laid off already has a new job and a lot of the people who were called back have gone too. If you started last year, you are now one of the old timers.

I got laid off last year of late Feb, 3 weeks before the nationwide lock down and stores furloughing employees. I was lucky enough to get my EDD way before cause all my ex coworkers during the furlough went through a tough time competing with millions of others trying to sign up and go through the process asap. Around the beginning of June right after those Floyd protests and riots my former store began calling people back to work and some accepted having to deal with the aftermath of the lootings and smashed windows. From there on they called everyone back but the majority all turned it down and just this past Feb they laid off even more people so now the store I used to work for is pretty much completely deserted.
