Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Finally Made it Out

Well, I finally got a new position outside of Wells. I'm glad I had a horrible manager because it forced me to start looking. I was a Product Manager in Digital and once I started searching, I realized my skills were out of date. No CRM, API, Cloud, or AI experience. The biggest thing going for me was solid agile training and experience -- and that's what got me the job.

In any case, it took about 7 months to land a new gig. I'm 53, so that could have played into it, but I did get interviews with dozens of companies -- I just couldn't close the deal. Now I'm full-time remote at a publicly traded fintech that has been around since 2005. My base went up significantly, I get very substantial annual stock grants, my 6% 401k match is done every paycheck, I have an 18% bonus potential, and the insurance is cheap,

If you are in the Digital space, I strongly recommend sticking with financial services and look for a remote position. Even traditional banks like USAA have remote positions available.

This will be my last post. I could go on and on about all the bad things I saw at Wells since 2014, but what's the point? Time for me to move on. Good luck everyone!

I’m sure Chucky is glad you are helping him make his quota so he gets his bonus.

Apparently a lot of people here thinks work is play time. Says everything you need to know about the mentality of the employees here.

Of course they are getting rid of anyone of a certain age so I should not be surprised.

OK, This is OP one last time....

Once I got my performance review, I instantly became disengaged from my job. This made me feel a little bad, but I did the minimum effort to make my team successful.

Where did I spend my other efforts? At least four hours a day on job sites. And another 2+ hours a week doing interviews.

So, this is how the bottom line is affected by pushing people into attrition... Not saving a nickel....

@nqb+1aHfYLUi if you really believe that job tasks always suck I would feel sorry for you if you were not such an a-ho-e. Or maybe that’s why you’re an a-ho-e.

My job tasks do not always suck. In fact they rarely suck. The pointless busywork required to work at Wells Fargo sucks, but those are not job tasks.

People choose careers because the requisite job tasks are interesting and fulfilling. If you don’t get that, and you obviously do not, you have chosen the wrong career. Sucks to be you.

Congratulations!! I made it out recently, and I now love my work and working like you said in current technologies: Cloud, AI, Blockchain, etc.

I think Wells Tech is more beating their processes versus working within technology.

There is a reason it is called WORK. It’s not play time.
