Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What is the purpose of an ethics hotline?

Do you think the ethics hotline really serves its purpose to help cultivate a positive work environment? I would not agree. I feel very naive that I filed the report because it had no effect. Somehow I assumed it would have no effect, and now I am convinced that the ethic hotline serves no purpose. Maybe someone has a different experience?

Oracle is run BY the rats.

No NO you misunderstand. I do get what you mean, Oracle is managed by a large group of scavenging bottom feeding rodents, but in the context of the ethic hotline, a rat is somebody who is supposed to keep his mouth shut and say nothing but instead tries to Turn in or "rat out" an ethic violator. The ethics hotline is a good way to find out who the rats (or squealers, if you will), which makes it easier to get rid of them.

But no you are not wrong. All the best managers are long gone and only the fakers and rabies and scabies infested rodents remain.

Last few comments are 10000% on point. Man. I love calling mgmt rats. The rats or Oracle. So true. Love it. Made my Sunday.

And one more thing.... the rats will all lie together about you. To succeed at Oracle, at least in terms of title, means you have to be corrupt and a rat yourself.

Better to find a real company to work at, not one run by rats posing at management.

To discover who is a rat and eliminate them.

Total nonsense. Oracle is run BY the rats. Read the latest lawsuit that was posted.

If anything, it finds the people who are pointing the rats out and eliminates them instead. Never talk to HR. Never contact the ethics hotline.

Yes, purpose of ethics hotline is just to have an ethics hotline. Pretend hotline just for show and to cover the as--s of the management.

All correct. Purpose of Ethics Hotline is to have an Ethics Hotline.

This is exactly it. I always LOVED the bi-annual ethics "training" and quiz. I just figured it was a how-to guide on how to not get caught.

There are a few things I do miss about Oracle. My co-workers, my manager, etc. But that was not one of them.

I filed an issue with ethics and it was supposedly investigated but nothing ever came of it. Oracle still told the same lie to customers.

All correct. Purpose of Ethics Hotline is to have an Ethics Hotline. When Oracle gets caught they can say “Look we trained these id--ts on their responsibilities to report unethical behavior - looks like they failed so we will fire them - Or better yet you should sue them not us”

Same as HR, they are on Oracle side, not yours, don't waste your time, you may even get yourself in trouble if you report anything.

It’s an office accessory, like an “open door policy”. But never welcome to use. Akin to watering a plastic plant

What is the purpose of an ethics hotline?

It serves a very important ethical function, which is to tell you to STFU and get back to work.

If it is something illegal, don't report it internally. Call law the FBI, District Attorney, etc.
