Every year the week before Thanksgiving we tell people they're off the books at the end of the year. The VSP for Verizon 2.0. Rebadging much of IT to Infosys. Now we've sold off an entire sector of the company through the VZMedia sale to Apollo.
My job with the company is precarious. My significant other offered for me to move in with him during this trying time instead of locking myself into yet another 12 month lease. 95% of my belongings is going to a storage unit. I'm going to share his bedroom in the house he has roommates in. Luckily the wintertime has led to me spending weeks at a time there with everything being chill.
I've had friends and people say that I'm making a big deal of things when I KNOW THIS COMPANY. I literally talked about this with my partner yesterday. 2020 has been exhausting not knowing how long I'll still be employed. Desperately paying off as much debt as I could while obsessing over how long my money will last and how close I could be to homelessness. By significantly cutting down on my housing expense, my savings as well as unemployment will stretch farther.
There is not security in this company. But I bet it's the same in others. Goodness if it's anything other than terrifying.
