Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

I have an another offer but can't decide if I should take it

I was just given an offer by another company but I'm on the fence if I will take it. The salary would be decently higher than my current one but the bonus target is less so it's almost a wash.

They have only a 4% 401k match and that doesn't kick in until after 6 months. Plus losing all my RSUs is making me a little sick in my stomach.

But on the flip side I can't find too many people complaining about working at this other company and it would be a senior management role.

So I'm just torn on what to do. I don't really hate working at Truist - at least not as much as I used to, but there is always that regular feeling of layoffs just around the corner and benefits being stripped as such so....ugh.

Run away now. It’s sinking.

So I called the company back and explained how much I would lose in RSUs and they agreed to bump up the salary and offer a nice sign on bonus. So I think I'm gonna take it.

I wouldn’t automatically assume that your RSU value will continue rising. Who knows, and I sure don’t, but EVERY teammate I talk to affirms one troubling thing - regardless of their role and division, they all see Truist leaking oil. It is almost impossible to not come to the conclusion that this merger started poorly, and is getting worse.
The decision is obviously 100% yours, and the bottom line is that YOU be happy as we have a finite amount of time on this earth. I will share my worry with you - as I mentioned above, this bank is far from healthy. As more of the issues come to light, management has shown a wonderful propensity to blame the producers, instead of their own missteps. I fear this means the future is pretty bleak for us “little” guys...

"And having the golden handcuffs of RSUs.."

RSUs are 'fool's gold". They are there merely as a way to keep people they need from rushing to the exits. Three words; Lost Opportunity Cost.
While you are waiting around for the RSUs to mature, you could be making that $ and more in total comp somewhere else. If the new place REALLY wants you, they will help offset the cost of the lost RSUs. Negotiate it into a signing bonus.

"Are you happy now? If so, then it becomes a decision of pure preference."

So I applied for this position about a month ago when I was under a manager who was creating a toxic work environment. Since then I've moved to a different department that's been a lot better so I don't feel the same sense of urgency to leave as I did a month ago. But that said, I agree that executive management doesn't seem to be doing anything to show they care about making Truist a pleasant and pleasurable place to work. And having the golden handcuffs of RSUs complicates it because worse case if I were to get RIFed at least I get all that cash immediately.

Are you happy now? If so, then it becomes a decision of pure preference. If not, I don’t see any scenario where things will get “better” in the future for you and your fellow teammates at Truist.

Said another way, I see absolutely nothing Truist is doing to position the bank for long term success, or to even attempt to create a decent place to work. From my viewpoint, I see Executive Management lecturing employees on expense control and the need to accept financial hardships for the company’s good, while they in turn are making out like bandit$. It has reached absurd levels - I am somewhat surprised, particularly in light of Kelly’s manufactured “persona”, the treatment of employees has not gotten more widespread attention...

When Rogers takes the helm, you will see a big différance, he's a tyrant and will strip whatever good is left from you. I worked for SunTrust years ago, it was the worst environment, and I was miserable. I'm with PNC now and couldn't be happier. Take the new job as I can't see Truist in it for the long haul and certainly your happiness is more important long term.
