Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Start slacking off more at work. Wish I would have.

Hi everyone!

I worked at Wells Fargo for 5 years before eventually moving on to another company that pays more, better benefits, amd treats their employees like human beings.

Looking back at my Wells Fargo days, the only real thing I remember is hating my boomer managers who are stuck in a deadend job, because they chose to live in McMansions and drive leased luxury SUVs, till they are eventually laid off like everyone else.

The other thing I deeply regret is that I should have slacked off more.

Think about it.

Most of the people you work with are lazy idi10ts doing the bare minimum to get by, and your management are even bigger id10ts who are just more technology illiterate and better as brownnosing the boomer id10t managers that are higher up on the food chain.

You could probably get away with not doing your assigned role/task for a good solid year before anyone ever questioned what was going on. Esepecially in departments that just had massive layoffs and restructuring.

Go ahead and try it. Go to work tomorrow, jiggle your mouse a few times per hour to make it look like you are in front of your computer, maybe attend a few mandatory Zoom meetings, but use 90% of the work day to watch Neflix on your phone and just chill and do nothing. Rinse and repeat, day after day.

You can also use this time to brush up on employable skills and look for employment elsewhere.

When Wells Fargo inevitably lays you off, along with other corporate simps who puts in overtime hours for a company/management that does not give a rip about them, at least you can walk away from Wells Fargo with a smile on your face.

You do realize that tech does packet reports, right? That shows the amount of activity on your computer. Jiggling your mouse will be known.

OP. We are glad that you are gone. Hopefully, you can take some of your lazy ilk with you!

Lol at all the simps blathering on about character.

Explain "character" when Charlie is sending you packing on the next round of layoffs to pad his bonus.

I guess some people were born to be slaves and doormats for others... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Just wait until they install MS Teams and your manager can be big brother.

In case anyone wanted a progress report, I was able to compete the 2 coats of paint, mow the lawn and even got to assemble a few chairs. I didn't bring out the edger so one hour was about right.
Enjoy your weekend teammates.

OP is right, all this high-fallutin talk about character is just boomer fairy tales to trick you into breaking your back for a company who will can you in a heartbeat. People at WF become dispirited because they know by and large hard work is not rewarded here, with stagnant wages and very little opportunities for career growth.

If you're doing more than the bare minimum the joke is always on you. Everything above that is wasted effort and stress, unless you live in a hub location or get really jazzed about a 1% pay increase. This is not an orphanage, it's Wells Fargo, it is not worth it.

Wrong. Character matters most when times are tough, and if you shed it at the first sign of difficulty you never had it in the first place. You sound like you're making excuses and justifying things to yourself. A bunch of people standing around with their arms folded in front of their chest and stamping their feet while they refuse to help anyone is perpetuating a toxic environment all by itself. You can be part of the problem or part of the solution regardless of what anyone else is doing.

All I know is that I will no longer be carrying the lazy ones, and I regret that I ever did. If I get fired for that, so be it.

I have never been recognized for it, and the lazy ones are still here because of my efforts, not theirs.

From now on, my manager’s bad hire is his problem, not mine. He can put on my review whatever he wants. I’ll sign it.

@via+1aCFWX57 Stuff that happens at WF only overwhelms character if YOU LET IT. Employees have choices, but some would rather demand change from others rather than take action themselves.

@ihy+1aCFWX57 Character doesn't matter when an environment becomes extreme enough to overwhelm normal predispositions.

WF has created such a toxic environment that it overwhelms character. Fix the environment first. Most people working here didn't take a job thinking "I can't wait to do as little as possible because I hate this company".

A call to action that actually makes sense.

I'm on it!

So the argument here is to be a lazy bag of cr-p because you think your effort is never going to matter? Character matters, no matter where you're at, or what job you're doing. That nonsense is loser mentality. If I'm a cleaning toilets for a living, those toilets are going to sparkle.

It's baffling that someone who has already left the bank still lets it occupy so much of his/her brain. Not to mention spending time and energy "deeply regretting" that you didn't slack off more, especially since you say that life at your new company is so rosy...

I know the pandemic has been limiting, but there must be healthier hobbies.

I'm glad that a person that loves stereotypes and generalizations as much as you voluntarily left the company, OP. Now prove that this alleged new gig is actually fulfilling by never returning to this place. You're not an employee and you weren't laid off, so I doubt anyone cares what you think.

Funny thing about karma, it goes both ways. I sincerely hope that Charlie decides to ki-l off severances the day before you get your notice, you arrogant a$$clown.

I have had recruiters on the tech side calling me and low balling me too for tech contracts here

I wouldnt say the managers have McMansions but they do lack info in their domains; I have recently left, it is for sure a dead end job and better not to learn to do things the way they are done here, companies that are successful do things based on the present times. Better to forget anything you learned here.

Anyways, I left after about 4 years working here to a high 200k+ role plus bonuses. Some recruiter called me for some contract job here and was trying to offer me a contract with low pay, why on earth would I take a 200k+ pay cut to do obsolete work that will hurt my experience!

Exactly. My agenda for today... work call 830-9am. Paint a bedroom 9-noon. Lunch. Mow lawn 1-2. Work call 2-3. Second coat of paint 3-5. End of day.
