Today I sat through at least the fifth presentation in the last 6 weeks encouraging my group to network and grow your skills and get out of your comfort zone.
JUST ANNOUNCE WHO IS GETTING LAID OFF ALREADY!

Do it. Stop stop stop with these meetings. There are people like me who actually like to work and if Wells is going to lay us off, just freaking do it and stop greasing the runway with these pep talks.

I hope you still applied to the job. Maybe you caught the person on a bad day, and they weren’t annoyed by your call at all. You are doing the right thing by networking. It’s a long, hard slog otherwise. And I have found most people I reach out to are generous and helpful.
Meaning it's coming again. It doesn't matter how much you network, they still send you back in a pool of candidates. My former boss contacted me about a job his client was working on. He gave me her contact information and she curtly told me to go on the website and apply like everyone else and from there, my application will be reviewed.
I'm out of Wells Fargo but my advice to those still there is to start looking and keep looking. Your time may not be right now but the way things are going, it's coming.
It's not easy out there for those saying they hope it happens to them. Be careful what you wish for. I never wished for this as this is my second layoff and it's painful.
I’ve seen the same thing - it’s almost like the Hunger Games where you have to fight for the job. This job (at least the one I have) simply isn’t worth it.
I’m suspicious of why Chainsaw suddenly left Visa. He was an inept failure at BNY and is also a. Lifeless hack at Wells. I think there may be a non disclosure in place at Visa and maybe smug boy was se-----y harassing people.
yah, and to make it worse, stage coach building is not a skill I could ever land a job. I think they are getting this nonsense from the 1800's. They could at least make current content.
This is all just PR. Sure they would love it if we all just quit, but if we don’t they can point to these meetings as proof of what good corporate citizens they are.
If they didn’t expect some payback from it, they wouldn’t do it. It’s not for us, it’s for them.
I’m half tempted to look for another job just to spare my junior colleagues who are sounding really shell-shocked lately.
They really truly don't want to lay anyone off.....they want them to quit.
I received an email today from Enterprise Updates that invites people to attend a meeting with a title “Prepare for the inevitable job interview top 10 interview questions”. I can only consider this as a writing on the wall for the whole company.
Last time I received a reminder to attend one of these courses from my manager I replied with a LOL. Have not received any reminders since then, I think they understood my message.
The telecommuter CoP had a thing on how to write a better resume back in September or so, it’s not even subtle at this point. The plus side is that I rewrote it and I’m ready to roll now if they pull the trigger. But my group is supposedly not getting hit until June.
