Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Indirect Account Managers

What do they do? The ones I know haven't visited a store in a year, spend their days shopping and living as of they are on always on vacation.

One I know bragged about taking a week to Florida, taking a few conference calls during the week and enjoyed the beach house for a week all without using vacation or anything.

AT&T outsourced their entire indirect team to MarketSource years ago. The job was turned into a part time minimum wage contractor position. They are have not looked back.

If that does not show you what dead weight indirect is, then I don't know what will.

Those who comment dead weight are front line bottom of the barrel retail store reps who know nothing about any other position and only comment negatively projecting their self worth. The position is soon to be back in the field and one will not be able to “Vacation” but, it is a work from home position (atm) and if he is able to perform his job function and hang out at the beach after he’s off work then so be it. This position was already cut very thin during the restructuring and will not be part of the next lay off as one mentioned in the comments. The indirect territories are massive which keeps them very busy. One account manager is responsible for over 30+ locations. That’s sales alignment, merch, training, relationship building and etc for over 30 locations. So when some uneducated sales rep who will never amount to anything within Verizon runs his/her mouth on an anonymous forum, don't take them seriously. More than likely applied for one of the few IAM positions and didn’t even get an interview.

Only a matter of time! More and of agent strategy and responsibilities are being ran from HQ. They might have a few eventually for store visits and support. But honestly, can’t some of things be done by a third party?

The ones who haven’t been laid off will be gone sooner than later. Don’t worry about it.
