Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Nothing to do

Anybody finding themselves with less and less to do? And most of it is training new employees to do what I used to do? I have a feeling this is intentional and I'm pretty certain my days are numbered. Has anybody been in a similar situation? Is there anything I can do or should I just pack my bags and leave with some dignity?

You know what I did today? Other than check email religiously for something to do- I did nothing. I literally had not a single thing to do. Busy work sure - but as far as what my daily responsibilities used to be? Nothing..

If you are working off the clock, that's wage theft. You might want to talk to a lawyer.

At least document all your unpaid hours and any communication with your manager that indicates he knows you are working off the clock.

Yeah...working extra hours and only getting credit for less than 6....Had an a-h–e manager that worried about people starting 5 to 10 minutes late calling the entire team on a regular basis in the morning to ask "where you at and what are you doing"...

But never recognized people working through their lunch hours and getting home after 6:30 every evening. I know, I know...if he recognized the extra time worked overtime would be common place and we all know overtime is NOT allowed.

The point is working 10 plus hours to get 6 hours of credit is the NEW Xerox.

I don’t understand folks working extra hours to keep up. Stop ki—g yourself you only get paid 8 hours a day. If you can’t keep up it’s not your fault more people are needed to help out.

I have plenty to do. Too much actually. Between customer escalations and normal daily work I'm working a few extra hours each night to try and keep up.

Prepare yourself to be laid off. That's what happened to me about 1 month prior and I was IRIFd. Save your $$$, update your resume and start connecting with Recruiters. The company is downsizing all of this year.

If you have been furloughed the last 18 months and still not much to do my guess is you will NOT be coming back.

I have had nothing much to do for the last 18 months furloughed , when I return I will still have very little to do , suggest you look for jobs and do a course online.

  3. Using the time to work on my resume
  4. Searching for a job
  5. I expect to be laid off before end of Q2
  6. Today's Non-Farm Payroll Employment Change report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows nearly 1 million new jobs in March. There is Hope!

Everybody I know has a ton of work. If you don't, you should be concerned about your future.

Did you get a reprisal for complaining about workplace safety, did you ask the execs for a raise, or did the Xerox full time staff just did not like you?

THEY ARE REPLACING YOU WITH THE PERSON YOU ARE TRAINING.

Good luck. The execs have no loyalty to you. Best for you to leave the management to train the employees.

I have nothing to to do either. What no one seems to understand is that this is what happens when you are about to be laid off. The projects and assignments are transferred to those who remain. Hence the complaints about either too much to do and no work at all. I feel sorry for everyone in both situations. However, I am resigned to my fate, I'm updating my resume and I'm ready to leave. What made Xerox a good company even in bad times were the great people who worked here. The new senior leadership team is nothing but a pack of soulless hyenas. They are k–ling this company and will leave a lifeless carcass for the private equity vultures to pick clean.

Screw them before they screw you ..This company has no regard for their employees ..
You are a number to them regardless of position and duties. Too bad it has come to this but Xerox as great as it once was is a dying dinosaur led by megalomaniac incompetence.

Any time I've ever found myself underutilized, uninspired, unchallenged... I've looked for a new position... whether it was within the same company or elsewhere.

When it comes to this situation, I would definitely be on the hunt. If all you're doing is showing others how to do what you do (Or 'used to do') then yeah... that's usually not a great sign.
